Given they only get 6000 at their own ground what would they know about that?

Their fans do not see any benefit of the Wembley games to the club so the fact they get 40K on with free tickets and whatever is no use. We on the other hand are getting very big crowds at our ground with the Big One games. If a club has anything to learn here it is Sarries IMO.

I doubt the RFL would let us play at Old Trafford in the middle of the season as it would allow us and another team to play where we'd get to play if we reached the GF. I think there would be a chance at Eastlands or maybe a game at the Reebok get a few more in from Bolton etc (though thats not much bigger than the DW) maybe Ewood park thats over 30k but I think those fixtures may alienate some fans coz I see quite a lot walk in to the games so they can have a drink if they had to get trains or drive etc they may not come.

FOR A ONE OFF GAME. Like 'The big one'. They must be doing something right to get over 40,000 people to a single game. Maybe we can use some of their techniques to sell-out the big one every single time (even if it is still in Wigan).

Was watching SSN last night and they had a piece on Sarries fire walking at their ground. Interviewing players etc. A nothing piece but they were on nevertheless. Cant remember seeing Wigan on for something so trivial. We have a lot to learn from them re marketing

They want try marketing to improve there average.

I think that says a lot more about the media's bias towards RU than it does about Saracens marketing department.

It's also geography - TV crews don't like travelling outside the M25...

We will be on tv alot more when everything is moved up to Salford (dont think Sky have anything to do with that but BBC and ITV are I believe)

Well according to their fans the club doesn't make any money from Wembley due to having to give away loads of free tickets to get the crowd up, the Wembley crowds are decreasing anyway and it isn't translating into bigger crowds at their own home ground. So what is right about that? Whoi gives a toss if they can get 40K on if after having done it a few seasons it isn't translating into larger crowds and a bigger support fr them? As I said I think our way with the Big One is far better.

They are even taking a Heineken Cup game v Biaritz (spelling?) in South Africa of all places. That has gone down like a lead balloon as well.

A world-wide hybrid game would be massive. Thats the only way the sport can rival football.

This cross code/hybrid is something that we'd better be careful of.
If the vested interests want it they'll hype it to hell and back.
We might not fancy going to a game to see endless line outs, scrums, penalties and where the ref blows his whistle between 80-100 times in 80 mins but if the sellers of this garbage want it we'll never hear or see the end of it.

It was intersting to hear the CEO of the NZ RFU after their world cup say that it could be successful in England provided they changed the rules to make it more attractive and entertaining.

Well they can bloody well change the rules before Rugby League's name is linked to this rubbish. Why link up with a game that produces such turgid dross that Union plays?

I agree. A hybrid game could be the ultimate way to go for professional rugby. But I see a long road before we get to that. There is basically nothing at all wrong with RL - as both we and the Aussies see it. And an awful lot wrong with RU, to the point where a big percentage of us won't even watch it. And yet, somehow, I can't see the RU boys agreeing to a hybrid sport which isn't at least 75% their game.

Those who are pushing this bike, had better beware that, instead one code of rugby, it doesn't create three.

You have answered your own question:

a) It will make money.
b) It will attract huge publicity (and see 'a' above).
c) It will give the Union advocates a way out of defending their own sport and League's 'inferiority'. Ergo they will suport it and it will.....make money.
d) If it were to become mainstream then RL would effectively have to sign up to it or risk becoming 3rd in a 3 code world of rugby (in the UK at any rate).

This is a bigger danger to League than Union - don't underestimate it or that it will happen and not necessarily on League's terms.

Not quite sure this would be the case. If RL didn't take part, it would either split Union into traditional & new (which would both be weak), or you'd be left with Union under new rules. Either way, RL would still exist in its own right, and I don't see any League fans deserting their clubs to follow either of these.

Agree with Cruncher / Father Ted - League has its own traditions, fan base & identity. We'd be bloody mad to get in bed with Union & weaken this.

Christ talk about moan nothing is right now fans dont want to play same teams and visit same grounds which all other sports do. Never happy

No, most other sports have a greater variety of teams to play, experiences to be had and places and countries to visit. What's wrong with needing more variety - I have done my stint in visiting Leeds, St Helens, Warrington, Widnes etc for longer than I care to remember.

There are only 12 teams in the RU premiership.

Plenty more variety with the European comps and International matches, they also have a limited version of promotion and relegation. Look I'm not defending RU, it doesn't appeal to me, but our sport has the feel of going round and round in the same circle season after season.

Well we dont need to change by watching RU teams, it would be nice to play in different places just not joining forces with union to do it. If your fed up go and watch another sport then.
