As I understand it under the new Premiership rules NO games are allowed to play on the pitch 48 hours prior to a Premiership game.

There is nothing set in stone however that says the top team HAS to play on the Friday night. Wigan RL will play on the Sunday.

Can anybody find the premier league rules on groundsharing to put this to bed once and for all as we have had this for the last 5 years.The top team should play on friday as thats sky showpiece game of the weekend.

There used to be an urban myth about a 24 hour rule as well.

It has happened before as well.

Wigan met Saints on Good Friday (5:15pm) then Latics played Bolton on the Saturday in 2007. The difference then was Whelan owned us so it was in his interest.

Unfortunately it looks as though we'll have to put with 'tics being in charge of who plays when as I found this on the Premier League website about ground sharing.

Although no info about how many hours there has to be between use of the stadium.

They did but Hull City were not in the PL at the time

2. Will the RFL allow us to?

If Sky want the Latics on TV on Saturday and they tel the RFL they are putting our game to Sunday the RFL will change it

Should we win week 1, and we go to week 3 - the football are away (I believe?), so no issue there.

sorry I wasn't really clear but thats not what I meant, I just meant its possible for a quick turnaround, I've not seen the KO time for Latics on the Saturday but if its early enough we could potentially play Saturday evening could we not?

As I have already mentioned, the sunday night slot is all well and good apart from the fact that it leaves a much shorter turnaround to week 2 than the Friday night game.
whilst it might suit us (if it is the only option), I could well imagine the fourth placed team, in normal circumstances expected to lose, being not too happy about having to back up the following Friday.

If i remember correctly i think one kicked off at 11am and one at 6pm cant remember which way round it was it is possible but very unlikely.
Sky will dictate when we play as they pull the strings at both the RFL and PL.

If we have to move grounds to Widnes, then we should be kicked out of Super League. Its totally unfair to tell clubs they have to get a new ground or no Super League when we don't even have a ground. Plans need to start about building a new ground. Its only fair.

Should we also kick Huddersfield out as they have to move three games to Halifax next season?

I think Dougy has a point tbh. The Huddersfield and Saints examples are isolated incidents. We, on the other hand, have to go four weeks EVERY May without a home game, we have to have a legally enforcable clause stating we play second fiddle and we have to move stadium for the climactic games of the season. Hardly gives us grounds (no pun intended) to criticise others.
