Rollocks!!
As for Wigan ending up flat broke ermm, our debts were around £4M and we sold our ground for £13M. I only wished I was £9M flat broke...

And as usual, they never mention the real reason why Wigan lost so much money, which was because of the extensive repairwork caused by very serious coal mining subsidence under the Boston Stand.
Why? Because it would completely undermine (pun intended) their fantasy view of Wigan's history.

| Hey, we're nearly there. We'll soon have this game over and done with then we get a break from threads like this as we look forward to the Catalan game. Some of us spoke up when the Wolves thread started last week and as a result things became fairly civilised on both sides. Such a shame that normal service has been resumed.
As an aside to the Wigan posters, don't you get tired of having to tell the same truths to different clubs every week? Constantly having to correct the myths re the stadium, our history, our supposed cheating blah blah blah wears me out and all I'm doing is reading it!
I know I have the choice of simply not reading threads like this each week but I also have the opportunity to show my annoyance. For me, the best post each week is Tiny Tim's team news. Trying to choose the worst is impossible but the search would probably start on the weekly variation of this thread.
Rant over. Apologies.

| Quote ="Cruncher"Despite the generally low standard of trolling we get on this board in advance of Wigan v Leeds matches, I'm absolutely staggered that there is anyone left who is still trying to drawn comfort from this silly fantasy.
Seriously, Rugby Lad, you need to start thinking like an adult.
Wigan may have problems, but the stadium isn't one of them.
As things are, the lease they have on it will probably last longer than Headingley's crumbling foundations.'"
Cruncher no need to get touchy just because Wigan haven't got their own ground. My comment was nothing personal but simply stating facts, if you can't take that maybe you're the one that needs to come into the grown ups world and accept you can't argue with the truth just because its not what you wanna hear.

What 'fact' did you state?
Certainly not the bit about Wigan being shown the door any time and there being nothing they can do about it.
I'd love to know if you actually understand the meaning of the word 'fact', let alone the meaning of the word 'contract'. But then you could go and look them up in a dictionary, so it wouldn't prove anything either way.
I'm sorry if you're yet another of these juvenile trolls who assumed that Wigan RL v Premiership football would be a no-contest, and are now bitterly disappointed because after years of sharing with a Prem footy side, Wigan have grown stronger than ever. But that's reality and the sooner you deal with it the better.
At one time it was only the likes of Leigh fans who used to try to rib us about our stadium. Perhaps you Leeds fans ought to think about that.

| Who would have thought, that in a small town near Manchester there would be such aggravations, between the followers of the round ball and oval ball games?

| What I dont get with Leeds gripes is that themselves don't even fully own their own ground! Headingley is a complex owned jointly by you guys, the union and the cricket. Now correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't that mean that you Leeds Rhinos do or do not own your ground? Coz to me that looks like a shared ownership.

Dont even know your own team do you?
The RU club is the same business as the RL club. It is one Business known as "Leeds Rugby."
See now I didn't know everything but I knew that part. So how can a tenancy agreement be signed by themselves?

you see thats the misconception of small town people of a city like Leeds,we have to travel an awful long way out of the CITY before we see any kind of farm animal.
If you listen to the Authentic Leeds accent its not like the yorkshire dialect,Like the dialect that Wigan speak with it sounds rather quaint at the side of the Manchester accent

Yorkshire CountyCricket club paid rent to the rugby league club and were thinking about moving to a site in Wakefield because they were'nt making money not even from test matches,Leeds city council loaned them about 10,000000, to buy the cricket ground and to safe guard test cricket within the city. That completely wiped off any debt the rugby league club had ,Leeds Carnegie is nothing more than the arrangement quins have at the Stoop.

Yep. All I have to do usually is look out of the window, front or back. I live two miles from the town centre.
The Wigan Borough is a good mix of urban and countryside. It covers 77 square miles and has a population of 311,000.
