Shaun Ainscough , the only player in the squad who gives 100% , one of our only brightsparks and hopes for the future , playing great , amazing record but is dropped. Yet Fielden is first name on the team sheet. Noble is dying to put in his signings (Smith , Phelps , Pryce) but needs to face facts that he is only still in this job because of our two young lads.

agree, but to be fair smith didn't play that badly according to radio manchester commentary.

Bit harsh on some of the other youngsters tbf. Prescott, Tomkins x2 & O'Carroll may not be having a season like Shaun’s and although sometimes you can fault their performances they never give less than 100%.

Bout time we’ve got players like these in the squad and all they need is a few older players to pull their weight and we’ll see even more from them.

Fielden on the other hand what a waste of cap space.

I agree , i was mainly avin a dig at the 'wigan hierarchy' who will never be dropped. Players such as joel tomkins , prescott have also been dropped under noble though...

come on, it's not as if he's on a massive wedge which could be used to ensure we keep some of our other youngsters

Was excellent today, will probably never score four easier tries in any one game as all were similar walk in tries, but very impressive none the less.

Took a huge Brough bomb very well and made a telling break from it and that for me was the gamebreaker.

Well played Wigan, murdered us out wide and thoroughly deserved your win today, our turn in the cup hopefully.

Yet I agree that Noble is a clown and needs to be rid of, this is the 2nd occassion that injuries has meant Ainscough making Noble look foolish

let's hope he makes it a hat-trick at murrayfield. wouldn't put it past noble

How did Fielden go? Don't think I heard him all the way through the commentry.

I posted on mikes Wigan message board in response to someone who mentioned Aiscough might play that it would be ironic if he scored a hat trick. Well he went one better didn't he!

Well this is what our great leader has to say after today's game about Ainscough. Hardly the praise you would expect after 4 tries. Shows to me what a complete c*ck Noble is.

"There is no doubt he is a work in progress.

"He has got superb prowess. He is strong, quick and knows how to finish but there are other parts of his game he needs to improve.

"We gifted them three tries in the first half to keep them in the game. I knew that, if we could get to the other end of the field, we could score some points and I thought our execution was really good."

There's nothing there that you could argue with. Ainscough could be fingered for two of their tries, but then again so could Richards.

He's a great finisher but we all know he needs to work hard on his defence and positioning. The good thing is Ainscough is a grafter and you know he'll do everything he can to work on his defence.

Just got back from the game and it was nice to see that we didn't capitulate when we went behind in the second half. The young guns went great - both Tomkins and Ainscough were superb. Have to say also that Fielden went OK today for a change.

Steady on Andy or could we see a return of John Hopoate!

I don't suppose it's crossed Nobles mind it's his job to help Ainscough to improve? The way that reads is "he" meaning Ainscough's faults are something Noble views as something only Ainscough can rectify and if he doesn't well....

Why can't Noble sound like he is part of the team and say things like "we" will work on these things and not lay it all on the player?

Funny how after 3 years of $hite performances , Fielden never gots an ounce of criticsm off his mate Noble , yet score 16 try's in 10 games....

How many times do we hear the same bolx re gifting points, not respecting the ball etc. Today was when nobhead should have said I should have picked Ainscough in the first place, I was wrong, well done kid.

Stats don't show the presence/leadership qualities of the player, how well they gee up the other players, how hard they take the ball in or how hard they tackle or are to tackle, the grit and determination to grab the game by the scruff of the neck when things are going against you or how much heart the player has.

Stats show some good things but hide most of the things needed to be a good rugby player.

Check out Lynch and Coley stats from last year. Direct replacement Mr Lenegan I think.

I can't imagine he was asked about ALL the other players given it was Ainscough who scored 4 tries. Sounds like he's just trying to keep his feet on the ground to me. Which given his age and inexperience is the right thing to do.
