Agreed. I'd be inclined to let Carmont sit this one out and play him for 40 minutes against Leigh. Letting Goulding and Gelling battle it out at Salford.

Glad Spencer is named as he had a very good game v Huddersfield.

Spencer in the squad ahead of Dudson is not only a fair call after Thursday but also shows Wane will pick players on merit. They both did well IMO but Spencer inparticular was very impressive and looks first team material.

I also think we'll go with 4 forwards on the bench against Huddersfield but if we don't Mellor and Powell look like they've got a chance to stake a claim for a bench spot.

The squad for Tuesday will be cut to 17 so I expect Mellor, Powell and Spencer to miss out. But we'll see.

Looking like goulding gets the nod for round one then. I'm sure Gelling will get his chance. Maybe he is being lined up as Carmont's replacement. Darrell looked like he had worked hard on his defence in the first pre-season game against hull kr hopefully he continues to work hard and improve as a player.

Looks like it will be a messy one tonight, been raining here for a good while. According to the forecast its gonna rain all day too.

Me a Leyther will be there tonight so I will give you lot a word of warning. Wrap up warm. It's the coldest ground that I have ever been to and there is no escape from it under the stand. The ends and the back is open to the conco underneath and the wind whips through. Also if you have a flask take it it takes ages to get served.

Oh,and by the way for anyone interested, the new 'cherry and white' kit is being used by the first team tonight.

Does anybody know if there will be any radio coverage of the game?

That seems the likely scenario although I can't really understand it myself. I think there's still a question mark about Mellor and Powell and whether they would offer more than Tuson would off the bench. Mellor is the one who hasn't really been tried in the halves with the rest of the first team squad.
Tuson on the other hand, is just Tuson. Everyone knows what he has to offer, which is pretty much the same as what Farrell offers but less attacking threat.
I'm not a fan of the 4 forwards on the bench. I just don't think Tuson offers enough, especially when Lauaki, Flower and Mossop could easily fill in at second row too.

It will be clear after tonight what side Wane prefers.

I was planning to go today, last minute. But the cost and necessity of pre-booking & non-cash cash options has put me off.

How can Salford expect to increase spectator numbers when the costs for 1 person and a car for a pre-season is £23.75?
(Ticket £15, £1.50 booking fee, £1.75 e-ticketing that I have to print out, £5 for car park plus £0.50 booking fee)
