No just the shield and some bloke from the local business community making a stir saying we should be acknowledged as champions which of course all my fellow Warrington fans disagreed with and acknowledged Leeds for their achievement in winning the Grand Final from fifth, the true champions.
They only even started awarding a shield from 2003. When Wigan topped the league under Frank Endacott in 2000 they weren't awarded anything apart from losers medals after losing to Saints, which I think was a shame because that was a terrific side with IMO the best back line ever seen in SL (although it was lightweight on the bench). |

Only in RL do you get the crazy idea winning four games in a row (one at home, two away and the final for Leeds) is an "achievement" worthy of the championship and that is before you even consider they lost 11 games in the regular season.

The RFL went out of their way to devalue the league in order to get the GF concept off the ground. A move with Nigel Wood written all over it. Why they decided to start awarding the shield again I don't really know if the league is so worthless. There is some prize money now as well I believe. |
