If you're struggling for something to buy for Father's Day, and are looking for something guaranteed to raise a smile and lift the spirits, then you could do a lot worse than buying a copy of Wiganosophy.

I'm currently about 3/4 of the way through it and it is undoubtedly the best book about rugby league I've ever read. Often when we say we think a book is good, what we really mean is that the author thinks the same way that we do and that makes us feel clever, or good about ourselves. Well, maybe this is the case here, but I'd have to say that Matt Macauley absolutely nails my experience of being a rugby league fan - and I say rugby league fan, rather than a fan of a particular team, deliberately. I follow Leeds Rhinos, so I have no love for Wigan as a club, but don't let the fact that this book is about being a Wigan fan put you off. I was able to relate to pretty well everything within it. I think it's really well written, the author's style has made me laugh out loud several times, and it certainly covers the important issues in rugby league, from the ethos and history of the sport to the "Wigan walk" and how Stevo looks like a Sontaran from Dr Who.
In conclusion, if you're a Wigan fan - buy it. If you're a rugby league fan, buy it. If you're a sports fan, buy it. You won't be disappointed [/i
See - its even cheering up Leeds supporters. It must be good!
