Quote ="21-12"What complete garbage, stop making him sound like the best thing since Billy Boston just because he's a local lad, saves us in defence? is that a joke? he's targeted by teams time and time again because he rushes up out of the line and gets caught, i.e St George. How many times can you honestly tell me he has got ball and ran round a man or beat anyone? 99% of his tries are scored from very close range because he is playing outside of a quality centre. Charnley had a poor game against Wire but in the Huddersfield game he looked twice the winger Goulding is, he was running at people and beating them with pace, Goulding gets his plaudits because he comes in field and helps out the forwards. He isnt a threat when he gets the ball, he's one dimentional, he runs in straight lines and never looks to beat a player. Another of your points, very rarely drops a high ball and few tries conceded on his wing.......again, is this a joke? Did you watch the Hull game?? 2 tries conceded on his wing because his feet never left the floor when attemting to catch the high ball, he plants his feet and doesnt attack it at all, this is the same at both ends of the pitch, its very rare he gets above the oppostion winger in attack.'"
So why does the current best coach in SL pick him at wing then??
If he is as bad as you make out and offers as little as you say then it seems rather strange. It is also fairly amazing that he managed to get selected for England against Australia and New Zealand. I have not said he is the best thing Billy Boston, he is just no where near as bad as you are trying to make out and it seems strange when you are so willing to back Maguires judgement when it suits but not when it comes to Goulding. Everyone said that he played well against Leeds and he has received a lot of plaudits for his try so it seems strange that you are so intent on knocking him and promoting Charnley who was dropped due to his poor performance the week before. If you think that all Goulding had to do for his try against Leeds was dive over the line then you need to watch it again, it is like saying all Charnley had to do was catch the ball against Huddersfield and fall over the line.
He is not targetted like you are trying to make out either. St George are renowed for attacking through their left no matter who they play, it was hardly a change of tactic on their part. Also if you are trying to blame Goulding against St George, a game when he was constantly faced with 2 and 3 men overlaps with either an injured centre or makeshift centre, then you completely fail to understand that defence is a team game and that any winger does not stand a chance in those circumstances. If Maguire thought that it was Gouldings fault after analysing the game then he would have been dropped, its as simple as that. As he didnt drop him I doubt he sees it the same way as you or are you right and Maguire is wrong?
Charnley has been fairly awful under high kicks in every game he has played so it is completely beyond me how you can possibly think he is better under high kicks and criticise Goulding for it. Do you not think Warrington targetted Charnley after all his dropped kicks in previous weeks? I did watch the Hull game and one try was conceeded because Goulding was blinded by the sun, it certainly wasnt 2. All wingers conceed tries from high kicks, even Richards, but I would be fairly certain that Goulding conceeds less than most. Can you name another which has been conceeded this season like this or even last?
For whatever reason you seem to be intent on focusing on anything that Goulding may have done wrong and trying to blame him even for things that are beyond his control whilst completely ignoring any positive things that he has done or what he brings to the team.
