| For those that had to endure the 2000 season. What are the main differences between that year and this with regards to players, coaches and performances?

Well for a start, we had the true legend of the game playing which was Frankie Napoli
This may help for memory refresh
www.rugbyleagueproject.org/seaso ... mmary.html
Only thing I disagree with on there though is that I was convinced we ditched Monie close to the end of the season, didn't think he saw it out ? oh and we did the double over Huddersfield-Sheffield as they were known in that season.

| Quote ="BroncOnIon":272p3pn4There's a few things wrong with that. We had Kaptain Karle all season, Wath Brow game (Dooley's debut) was at Kingsmeadow, ... and you're right - Monie was fired about 3/4 through the season - in the boardroom at The Valley IIRC and was replaced by the Rea/Whatisname duo.'" game in Kingston, but looking at the year before they have Les Kiss as gaffer all season which was wrong as Dan the man was there up to the Wakefield home game when TR/LK took over......think it was just TR took over from Monie.

| Wath Brow was definitely at Kingsmeadow, with the Salford game played at IIRC Crawley Town FC's ground.

| Monie was sacked with three games to go. Needed a win or two to avoid relegation. Rea was appointed and we lost two but won away at Leeds last game of the Season. Finished sexond bottom above Shuddersfield. Played and loat to Salford four times losing in the cup. Edwards retired two league games in and a promising young half back Brendan Magnus had a career ending knee injury in about our third game. After that we struggled. Dooley had a good season but apart from that it was pretty poor. That said this year is worse. 2000 was just a bad year and 2001 was going to be better. We were a there or thereabouts team.2012 started with optimism but like the last two to three years I can't see where the improvement is to come drom.

| I only remember playing and losing to Salford in the Cup at Kingstonian. Dark day that was. Probably fits that season nicely, even if it wasn't.

| Was that the season that Dom ran half the length of the Pitch at Charlton to lump someone then ran away like a poof?
2000 was better as we were poor, but we had good spirit, "we only sing whne we're losing"

Wath Brow was at Kingsmeadow. I think Salford was also at Kingsmeadow. I seem to recall it was Batley who we played at Crawley.

| Dom, silly sod, broke the jaw of Hull's prop, Steve Craven? Think that was at The Stoop.
And we definitely played Batley at Crawley. Don't know if that was the same season though.

| Dorn was not playing for us in 2000. He didn't sign until 2005.

Think that's Do M as in Peters rather than Dor N.
My brain is deffo confused, could swear that the only game we played at Kinstonian was vs Salford, with Chariots debuting for them and scoring, Batley was def in Crawley [following season? but cannot remember watching Wath Brow down in Kingston, but all searches suggest we did, scary
Anyway as to the original Q, I guess we judge the seasons more upon what's gone before as opposed to 1 on 1, and 99 had been a nadir for us, while if feels at the moment we haven't had a good season since we returned to the Stoop with the last 3 especially being dire whch clouds this season as well [dire though it is in it's own right'"
Apologies I misread that. Eyesight must be going. Dom would have learnt that fron Davidson. I must admit I remember the Wath Brow game but not the Salford one in the cup. All the nookies had Salford to finish bottom. In the end they were ninth and got to the quarters in the cup.

| Ah the memories. Yes Mr Monie was released after dismal display against Warrington in first half became too much. He was not a happy chappy to say the least. He felt he had been conned by certain people at the club (not informing him that Edwards, Offiah & Gill would be leaving before signing up) and after spending most of the season choosing who he wanted to buy (Hetherington, Dymock, Barnett etc) being sacked. When Chariots scored those wins for Salford to knock us out of the cup etc he dedicated them all to our CEO for letting him go when he had been looking forward to hooking up with John Monie again and hadn't wanted to leave the place. So he made it his mission to prove a point and beat us and score in each game. John was a very quiet leader of men and he always said "there are 2 types of coaches, those that have been sacked and those waiting to be sacked"

Judging by a certain video clip that did the rounds back then I may suggest he was more of a big Pr1ck.
