I voted for Jason Taylor and that was just because hes a youngest aussie coach having seen what has happened at hudd's and Wigan with them going down this road.

But my choice if we went the english root again would be Daryl Powell. his experience with working in union could in some way help us with our union brothers at Quins( silly yes i know but you never know). If rumours were true that they(QRU) were after Nobby then him working for us could work in their favour during our off season or in pre season training(maybe even chip in to his wages as well).

James Lowes would need an experienced coach behind him, ie someone who should be a first grade coach. Daryl Powell seems to be very outgoing as a coach, and if the only worry is that he would be ill at ease with mingling with the supporters, then so be it. I'd rather have a decent coach, then one who is happy to mingle with the fans. We are only fans are looking at other sports we are very lucky to get near the players and coaching staff, you normally have to be pumping serious money into a sports club to get that kind of access, or be a life-time member.

In a club like Quins having a good external communicator is essential to create rapport with both ams and medIa. Powell seems comfortable with this, in a way that Mac did not.

Not a wind-up at all, it was a rumour I read on the Leeds forum. I wouldn't be too pleased with his appointment when the likes of Powell are available, but he must have at least learnt something under Tony Smith, and has to start somewhere.

Not sure how Lowes lacks toughness. Was a decent player and one of the tougest on the field.

Co-operative Championship would be the right place if indeed he has to start at all. And if he did it would be a re-start, he's already had one start.

Lowes may not have been overly successful at Wire when in sole charge....but that experience would have taught him alot...couple that with him being on the inside and seeing how Tony Smith has turned that team around...and I'm sure he will be far more savvy than before.

I guess we'll just have to watch this space!

The problem with employing any Northern coach is what happens if the family aren't prepared to relocate or find that they don't like living in London. It's the main reason that I'd be looking for an up and coming member of the coaching staff of an NRL club.

Same was true with McDermott.

There have many `significant`moments in our club history and the selection of our new coach must be one of them.....what we need to take us forward is a quality coach with (hopefully) a decent track record....the last thing we need is another assistant coach chancing his arm or using us to further his apprenticeship.

Hopefully DH will sort out the off-field issues because at this moment the clubs stock is about as low as you can get........if we are to survive as a club we need a coach who is able to build on the youth development and achieve significant improvement on the field. We do not need another bland, non-personality, mediocre but cheap chancer.

I think that is being incredibly harsh on Mac. In debating parlance I call on you to withdraw Sir.

Strangely enough I wasn`t necessarily refering to BM but the broader motley crew being suggested in Kevin Walters, James Lowes and Karl Harrison........but you can add BM if you wish!!!

You sir are a bounder....and IMO we do not need a low profile non-entity as coach.......a quality, media savvy coach with technical nouse will improve our chance of success and demonstrate that the club have aspirations and are serious about taking RL forward in London.

I dont care who the coach is( well i do really, a good one). I just hope who ever it is can teach them to catch and keep hold of a ball for a whole set of six tackles, and if they happen to score at the end of it then i be ever more happier..

Hmm the last coach we had who fitted said bill was not exactly a roaring succes though.

My concern is that a low profile appointment sends all the wrong messages and the coach will be up against it before he has even started, let alone making improvement and taking the club forward. There are no certainties, but the odds of making some improvement must surely be higher with a respected and known quantity.

If you look at Kevin Walters in post match interviews he looks and sounds every inch a broken man.....how on earth would he be good for Quins. James Lowes is probably a very good assistant, but may will always struggle as a head coach (the same might be said of BM), so why go down this road again. I also think some forget how poor Salford were when Karl Harrison got the elbow.
