| Quote ="gutterfax"Yep...1,511 was the previous worst for the CC in 2006.....
Terrible attendance...a massive opportunity missed to open the gates for free and get locals in......and before anyone cites the RFL no allowing it or a revenue share with Dewsbury, the rams will receive nothing from the club after operating costs are deducted, and if the RFL want London to be a success, then they would have given the OK for this.......
Words (almost) fail me.........that crowd is an embarrassment and anyone associated with it should hang their heads in shame.'"
So who is at fault? Majority of people who regularly attend didn't bother. Doesn't that tell you rather more about the state o our performances for the last 2years and the cup generally. Most expected a one sided contest and thats what we got. If the club did advertise free entrance what other activities and facilities would they need to open and pay for at a loss so those attending got the experience. So who exactly do you blame?

I blame the club....from the owner, through the CEO, the marketing manager all the way to the Marketing and Communications intern. The Lot of them!
[urlhttp://www.londonbroncosrl.com/theclub/lbrl/staff.php[/url
We had the CEO on the radio last week laying the blame for pi55 poor attendances at the feet of the teams abject performances and now we have you saying people didn't roll up because we were always going to hammer them.
I believe that the stadium costs about 30k a game in rent....9,780 was taken on the gate........so the club made a loss of over 20k.......Dewsbury get nothing and London get's it's lowest crowd for pro RL in 17 years.......
IF they had planned for this, opened the gates for nothing, arranged a kids mini-rugby tournament, dropped 10,000 letters to the nearest 10,000 houses to the ground with an invitation and a pair of free tickets, then what was a total shambles and embarrassment might have actually been seen as an opportunity to create interest in the game.....but instead, the club threw in the towel, closed the East Stand and accepted that nobody was going to turn up.
652 is a disgrace......it is 75% down on the seasons average......the blame lies with those charged with the task of attracting crowds and investment from sponsors.
I went to watch Petone Panthers take on Te Aroha Eels on Saturday.....there were more fans there than at a professional RL club in a city of 10,000,000.........no matter what anyone says about the opposition or the predictable result, 652 is a disgrace.....same as no game at the stoop now until June 9th (unless they get a home draw in the cup)....do you really see the club getting anywhere near the 5k they were targeting? If they don't win any of the next 4 SL games, how many will bother rolling up when Widnes come to town for the wooden spoon decider?
84 games in ESL back at the stoop...........average of 4,238 in 2006 down to 2,674 .............nothing short of a disgrace.....

| I think the RFL should just play preliminary rounds so that the best 2 teams go into the draw with the 14 SL teams. The non - SL teams are not strong enough 95% of the time to give the full time pro's a game and the speccies know it. Fans want to see a contest for their money and effort to get there.

| Anybody know if Dewsbury's Ben Jones is the same guy who played on loan to us a couple of years ago? Supposedly a prop according to the programme, but far too small for that. Once their hooker went off with his knee b*ggered, Jones started playing at no. 9 and calling their plays. Damn good job he made of it too. If we could have him back as a hooker, I'd be well pleased.

Completely agree! but even with SL teams, the attendance on national TV at Widnes was a disgrace and at times it looked as if the game was "Tick Rugby" and so many think this The Greatest Game in The World? as a sport we shoot ourselves so many times in the foot! Saturday evening was a great example and such a superb game in the afternoon on Sky (which I watched yesterday) be interesting what the audience figure was with so much sport on TV?

| And the gate was only about 80 more than the Crusaders got in the last round against Toulouse, a match that had to be re-arranged for Saturday evening as Toulouse had travel problems.

The Dewsbury fans I chatted with reckon they only recognised three of the players on the pitch. They were not happy bunnies having come all that way to watch their second team.

| Complete waste of time. We should have been allowed to go to a small soccer stadium which could hold max 3,000 crowd and saved some money.

| Oddities today!!! penalty for a forward pass! Its only an oddity because he is possibly the only ref who applies the rule. A deliberate foward pass is a penalty offence.
You could argue that any forward pass mst be deliberate, its a judgement call from the official

The Broncos one is wrong though I spotted Sam Bolger playing, did not notice Lamont Bryan, Ben Bolger or Chris Melling (but wasn't taking notes)

| They keep getting Lamont Bryan mixed up with Mark Bryant (easily done- same position, same size, same colour!)
We bombed a couple of tries we should have been chanting "We want 80"
Re attendance, not at all surprised no-one is much interested in these early rounds (and Sundays are a pain in the arris). 6 ST holders I know didn't attend (5 of whom were at The Stoop the day before to watch the top team in the Premiership...does make a nice change supporting a winning team).
Anyway, I enjoyed the day and great to see an easy win for a change (well, any win is nice!).
The march to the arch is on...bring on Swinton at home

Melling played in the second half. Monty certainly didn't play and Dewsbury had a tall guy at 6 who could have been Ben Bolger?

No, Ben didn't play for Dewsbury...presumably we wouldn't want him cup-tied.

That's a relief, the no 6 dropped a pass from the base of the scrum and was then substituted.
