| And to make matters worse, according to the BBC website Chad Randall has a dislocated shoulder that they couldn't get back in in the dressing room - which probably means he's gone for the season. If Catalans beat Wigan tomorrow, we're in the smelly stuff above our heads!

| To add injury to insult, Purdo went off clutching his arm - which from 50 yards away made it look like a break - and Karl carried off with a knee injury.
It was a bit like watching Nadal/Murray - every time we stretched them, they got back to cover, and we threw several chances we did have.

| Listening to the Five Live team doing full commentary just a few rows in front they all claimed they had not seen a worse team than Quins for completion rate in the tackle count? as others have said also players out of position, add to that what a small weak squad we have, just think if David was not putting so much personal money into our club, I tend to not want to even think.
Credit that at times we should have been down and out, but we kept fighting back, as kit80 only to do a Murray.
Interesting to listen to the half time interview with Peacock! along with his pal Smithy how they want Superleague now reducing to ten teams, as Sky would pay more? what planet is he living on, why not make it 4 teams and it would be a short season.

| Quote ="Dave Lister"All this about putting players in the wrong positions is just making excuses to cover up the fact that the players aren't good enough. Brian McDermott is doing the best he can with what he has, which isn't a lot, and I trust his judgement as an experienced professional.'"
I take your point that many of the players we have aren't good enough, but doesn't McDermott have some say in the recruitment?
The cap and the quota seem to be badly managed every year and this year is no exception. The decision to forfeit two quota places for the good of the British game I firmly believe has had an direct impact on our ability to be competitive this season.
As for the cap: Bannister, James, Kaye, Barker, Nanyn, Gardner (I'm sure everyone on here can think of their own examples) — you don't have to be very bright to work out filling the squad with players who will barely play a game and will do almost nothing to increase competition for places (especially when you are going to bring in loans like Mills anyway) is just a waste of money.
As for all the “bad luck” we have had with injuries and players leaving: Robinsion, Wells Villasanti, Fa'afili, Faumuina etc. etc.
Bad luck or bad judgement or a bit of both? These are questions McDermott will ultimately be judged on. That and his 38% win percentage (26% this year). But we know Mac isn't one for reading league tables, statistics or any other objective method used to measure success. He's all about “performance”
I'm done with the McDermott era and I really hope he is gone by the end of the year. I'm sure it won't solve all the clubs ills (far from it), but we need to get some better players and have a happy team that is at least a chance of winning most of its home games.
We don't need a coach who is “very happy, really happy” that Salford have just done the double over us.

| You lads seem very harsh on the Quins & McDermott. Some excellent RL played in the second half and Ben Jones-Bishop scored a belter. Dorn always a threat & Orr carved many an opening. Re the Coach - the offloading was very, very good and caused Salford a lot of trouble in repelling. Dont judge them on what 5 Live say as this may have been down to statistics driven commentators.

Are you sure that was a comment on last night's performance?
He was also asked about the Bulls coaching job.

I will have similar thoughts if he takes the Bulls coaching job.
Anyways, the comments in full for those who missed them, no mention of Purdham or Temata, only Randall.
From [url=http://www.sportinglife.com/rugbyleague/news/story_get.cgi?STORY_NAME=rleague/10/07/02/RUGBYL_Salford_ Quotes.htmlSportinglife[/url:
Quote Harlequins coach Brian McDermott was relatively happy with his side's showing but confirmed Chad Randall dislocated his shoulder.
"I'm very happy, really happy. I thought we played very well and defended very, very strong," he said.
"We had a couple of defensive blips near our try-line early on and I don't think they really challenged our line at all in the second half."
Of Randall, who left the pitch in the eighth minute and headed straight down the tunnel, McDermott added: "It was a big hit. It's up there. He's dislocated his shoulder was we weren't able to put it back in in the dressing room afterwards."
Asked about the speculation linking him with the Bradford job set to be vacated by Steve McNamara at the end of the season, the Quins boss said: "That's not a question for tonight."'"

Hey Homer, can you remember when Purdo first had a shoulder injury? I can see it happening now (in my head). He was stood in the line (attack I think) down near The Griffin end of the ground when one of the opposition, running back to his place, gave Rob a completely gratuitous thump, nowhere near the play. I think that was the start of his shoulder problems. Can't remember the opposition now, but it was probably in 2002 because here he is out with a shoulder problem in August 2002.

Any ideas? Of course the hit was not noticed by any of the match officials.

| Mac said he was very happy with the display, is there another coach who would be happy with a defeat at Salford?, such are the limits of his horizon now. Or is it that our players are so fragile that he has to praise such a result?
Add the two injuries and it was pretty disastrous. Still Mac is happy.........................

Why-We are not better or worse off with these players(accepting they are good) Salford away loss- think that through.Or even worse Salford do the double on us.
We are rubbish and Mcdermott is a very poor coach.
It would be interesting for him to name his first 13 with all players fit and compare that to what he puts out each week. Position wise

| Brian Mac being "happy" makes me extremely angry. FFS, No-one should be remotely happy with Salford doing the double over you. Sadly, I think we are destined to finish bottom. Latest batch of injuries make things even worse.

| Just to pile on the agony, our Reserves got beaten by Reds 64-16.
Presumably, our Reserves are having a poor year thanks to having to play in the first team. It's such a shame considering they had made great progress in the last couple of years.
On a brighter note (if you are a London supporter) Skolars finally got a win today against Rochdale 28-26. Good on em.

| Yep, the Skolars finally won at home after nearly two years! Despite leading by 18-0 after 37 minutes, it was a Sam Gee try under the sticks in the 79th minute and a Paul Thorman conversion that saw the North Londoners home 28-26. Hornets had one player sin-binned for talking back and a player and the coach sent off for the same offence! Maybe the Quins can take some sustenance from this as it now looks like the Skolars will not now finish bottom this year!

| Im sorry but the arrogance of some of your fans venting about being beaten by "salford" well lill old salford have already turned saints, huddersfield, hull and catalans over and run leeds very very close we are nobody's mugs and most of the time are our own worst enemies, matches at the willows are usually a very close game. Your team played well and had us on the rack with the odd piggy back up the field from bentham.Im proud of my team and certainly dont look down my nose at other teams.

I wouldn`t take it personally, we are all a bit brassed off at having such a poor season (again), and given we are below you in the table we are not looking down on anyone (apart from our most hated rivals).
Like any cellar dweller you look at the teams nearest you as a measure and target those games as must/should win games.....we failed to deliver both times against Salford. The table does not lie, we can both come up with the odd good perfomance (we have beaten Wigan and Hull and run Saints close twice) and although Salford are playing better than us this year we both lack consistency and strength in depth.

| Said it before and will say it again if we want to go anywhere we have to get rid of the coach, he has taken the team backwards and players who were England standard are now no better than NL1. If players are poor it is due to his coaching. He has no man management or coaching skills. His ego prevents him from listening and acting on the obvious things like putting a player in a position for more than one week and he should not have favourites it should be the best available players on the pitch. Give these same players a new coach and you will probably see how good they can be.

Our period of agreeing can go on no longer, I can't agree with this at all. Players simply aren't good enough and people need to realise this. We have probably the weakest squad in the whole of Super League, Wayne Bennett couldn't do any better, Brian can't work miracles.

Out of those, I'd only give Purdham any credit for his International selection. A few decent players doesn't make a team, beyond that we have some spectacularly average players as it's all we can afford/attract.
