He's done more for RL than you will in your lifetime. There's only one person here being pathetic. So his long term vision involves a unique identity and playing kit. Seems sensible to me.

Perhaps this has more to do with investors and sponsors who don't recognise the difference between Harlequins RU and RL undermining our ability to attract investment into the club a problem faced by the Board and staff and not those that post on here. The club has already changed the logo and name to Harlequins Rugby League due to feedback that the kids and probably their families thought RL stood for Rugby Lessons. I doubt the club expect a mere name change and different coloured kit to resolve everything but is part of a wider strategy of raising our profile and separate identity.

As for mere spectators I only have annecdoatal evidence regarding a few union fans that I know but the recognition of the league side is non existent since we changed names. They thought we disappeared several years ago.

If successfully driving a club into the ground is going to the the top of his list of achievements, he is welcome to them

Hughes is no fool, as such I suspect this is being driven by the RFL. It sounds like they are involved in a longer term plan where we have our own ground. Maybe they see our own identity as essential to that so are wanting that part to happen sooner rather than later.

Not that anyone pays any attention to me with regards to the club, but my initial thoughts are that this gives the club 1 last opportunity to sell themselves, the game and the experience to the local public.

I have no interest in the fans of London Irish, Sarries, Wasps or any other sport in the region. Neither do I have any desire to see transient bar staff become the "fans" that we rely on......

There are about 2,250,000 people within 20 minutes (journey time by public transport ) of the stoop. There is your audience.....it remains to be seen if anyone at the club has the ability or the desire to try and attract 10,000 of these as new regular fans to The Stoop over the next 3 years (if they get 3 years).

Staines to Clapham, Ealing to Kingston Upon Thames.....and in the name of everything that is holy..........don't wait until January 2012 before trying to come up with a marketing strategy........it should be in the planning stages NOW.

There are 36 Wards in the borough. Why not try to encourage locals along by leafletting by ward? Local Pubs need signed jerseys and fixture lists as soon as they become available.....Ideally not March

Lastly, get the RFL to fiddle the fixtures....Crusaders first at home, then Widnes 2 weeks later....no disrespect to those teams, but A CHANCE OF A WIN would be handy.
Wigan spanked us at GP in 2002, St Helens at the Stoop in 2005....both results were bad and we didn't see a home win until April both seasons.

What I'm 'pro' is the club actually putting down some roots and not moving the goalposts every five minutes. I don't think that's unreasonable.

Pointed out several times on this and other threads why I think the Harlequins brand should be the one to drive us forward. The Penguin has stated several different, but equally as applicable reasons. All of which you cannot counter, instead supporting this idealistic crap about some sort of "return to the good old days".

There seem to be 2 clear groups of people on here - those who can see the need for stability, continuity and a long term plan, utilising the most powerful brand in world Rugby instead of fighting against it. Then there are those who think that yet ANOTHER name change is the way forward, ANOTHER vision, ANOTHER plan, even though every single one of us would point towards the fact that our club has always struggled because it changes every 5-10 years. And this isn't even a new plan - but a return to a failed era of the club.

So disappointed in this. I hate the notion of obtaining some American-ised name that has nothing to do with the culture of London. As I said before, I don't understand why everyone is saying it's our own identity. No it isn't, it was a result of the Brisbane takeover.

I'd like to see what excuses will be made, when we're in the same predicament next year. It obviously won't be the result of being called 'Harlequins.'

What do you like so much about London Broncos? It's a stupid name that makes us sound like an American Football team, or worse, Ice Hockey.

Well Dave, it has been very expensive for him to get us so far! I can't think of Any club chairmen throughout super league that have invested so much personal money, if he is so pathetic have you the financial clout to take over and invest your personal monies?? allowing him to stand down, I rather doubt it.

Re the question about why Quins RU fans have not taken to watching us. I suspect a lot of it has to do with practicalities. I come from a football background but when the ridiculously cheap RU season ticket was offered to us in season one I nearly took it up to see whether I enjoyed it. (I watch RU occasionally but have never been a regular attender.) The reason that stopped me was the thought of hauling in to Twickenham every other weekend of my life. It could be the same reason that stopped many of them trying us, plus the fact that the games we did get them down to weren't exactly good adverts for us.

As for why is this happening. Could it be anything to do with the board changes at Quins RU? The people known to be RL friendly have all moved on and there are pretty big changes occurring behind the scenes at the RU club. This may all be tied into that.
