Camden is classed as North London yet a stones throw and 10 minute walk from the centre. Depends how north you want to be

Right, and your point?
If it's a 10 minute walk to the centre, its another 10 minutes to Waterloo. You can't have it both ways.

| You implied it as though North London and city centre are miles apart thus making some sort of vast difference when it's 10 mins walk or 2 mins on a bus.
My point, city centre/north London, pretty much of a muchness really.
Off past history though you always seem to ridicule the people of London who don't live in the vicinity and like telling people about the wonderful transport system and how easy it is to get to the ground when in fact it doesn't even take that long to get from St Helens to Leeds compared to a Quins fan going to a 'home' game.

I didn't imply anything. I asked why it took him so long to get to the ground from the city centre, then for some reason you steam in wailing about how long the journey is from somewhere in North London. And now you are saying its only 2 minutes from the city centre - make your mind up

Not sure that I have ever posted anything at all along those lines but if it exists in your head then fair enough.

| Dave, I agree once you get to Waterloo it's pretty straight forward, but it's the getting to Waterloo bit that takes time. I travel from near Canary Wharf, it is easily 20 mins to Waterloo, then get ticket for the train to Twickenham it all adds up. As my point was people in London on the main commute Monday-Friday, more travelling on a weekend isn't always what people want to do.

Absolutely, fair enough.
Whereever our stadium is though, we won't be able to appease everyone, especially if you are attempting to draw in supporters from so far away (no disrespect intended).

I agree Dave, the only Stadia close to central London are soccer ones. However, having been to sporting events where people have to travel a distance, if you get a buy in and a big if, you can get an atmosphere on the way there and on the way back (results pending on the return journey). That is my point with not hassling the London press. Get people out of town be aware this is going on.

I agree. I find it amazing when I get on the train at Waterloo, you wouldn't know there is an RL game going on.

| I hope you guys get things sorted out. In spite of the ill feeling between certain fans of our clubs (we've already had a few "I bet widnes/fax/leigh fans will be rubbing their hands over this" gibes, kind of classless considering no one has commented so far from those clubs) I wish you no ill and can only hope something is sorted for the near future. At the end of the day we all go and support our club and no matter whether we agree with the direction of the game or not there's no need to wish a club goes to the wall.

So do I mate.
But, if the worst happens and Quins step down......and the RFL stick to their word and you go up, I will have no problem picking Widnes as my SL team to watch. Many a cross word over the years regarding superleague status and who belongs where, but I always enjoyed my trips to you ground and especially that pub with the round pool table........and I agree about the comments from fax/leigh/Widnes fans....I have only had to deal with Hull Kingston Australian Trolls and a couple of wind-up merchants from Cas. Maybe Quins picked the right time to leak the news of our financial state at the right time.....just as Halifax pull a miracle crowd out of the bag

As it is, Castleford and Wakey can breathe a sigh of relief if DH decides he can't continue to bank roll us..........but if he decides to carry on, or another backer comes on board and your imaginary stadiums aren't at the building stage by July next year, I doubt you would find any Quins RL fans on those clubs boards gloating at the decision of the RFL when it comes......and that my little wind-up troll is why I can fully understand london 06 getting the hump with you.

You mean you expect to be bankrolled again, is another name change etc on the cards.
The Londoners dont want Rugby League and I for one am fed up of no hoper expansion clubs getting all the benefits. Wakey last year had a bit of trouble with the tax man, did the RFL help them ?????, But if you or the welsh outfit sneeze then along comes Lewis and his clowns to make it better.
Stand on your own is all the rest of the rugby league world want.
As for knockers outside the game , they will always be there when two of the supposed top clubs can only pull 1122 for a superleague game, that is a real disgrace , ffs featherstone doubled that crowd a division below

| How depressing to read the letters pages again today in the weekly rugby press, but in fact it is Sad how parochial our game is becoming or has it always been that way? all everyone is interested in is there own clubs not the game in general, the bottles of ink and feathers are coming out in Castleford and Wakefield and Leigh fans even still think they deserve to be in before Salford.
At one time it was just arguments who is the most successful club and then came along how every team lies on at the play the ball except their team and in the end they are the worse team for doing it! it never fails to amaze me.
Ambernotyeller Crusaders got a good attendance on Saturday night and it was on TV, so what is your complaint, you most likely have more debts then we do, thanks to Mr Hughes! - Salford thankfully are under way with their new ground and they seem confident that of the four teams who need to build a new stadium they will be first, one of the two Yorkshire teams is in dream lane as I just can't see two new grounds being built!
Perhaps the greyhound and ferret fans who are rugby league supporters want to take us back next to dropping the 6 tackle rule and put the jersey up your jumper? can't they see that no television broadcaster is interested in an M62 corridor game anymore, those days have gone! Sky will not pay the money they do for such a game, in fact they may even then say they want a 10 team Super League and then some heads/teams may roll!
People still take the Sky monies so much for granted, wake up and realise it is not guaranteed!

| Much as I am enjoying to see our hated derby rivals in such pain (almost eclipsing our recent home loss and the gash season we have had) it seems to me that:
* Yes, Quins should get 20% more TV money - and (even harder for me to say this) possibly that money should come from the french clubs, who should be getting french TV cash to make up the shortfall.
* Yes, the RFL should pay for the development stuff in london, same as they do in wales.
* Until a replacement for IL can be found he should be allowed to subsidise some of DH's costs.
* With all the Ozzies in London, if a team full of Ozzies will get the forrigners in, then why not give that a shot. Market it as London Ozzies or some such.
* If Quins are now charging you rent, you should change your name to London Quins. The RL tag is redundent and probably is more of a turn-off.
Ps - have you asked his holiness Russel Crowe to buy into the Quinz? He's already promoting RL accross the world, if he could expand his interests into SL ... (though you may have to change your name to London Rabbits).

In a random, ad hoc, 'its ok cos we can cram the side full of Aussies' sense around 25 years.
In a consolidated, sound based, organised, focused, 'lets give the southern kids a proper structure to develop in' sense 5 years.
So in answer to your question, 5 years ... so we arent doing that bad.

Also The RWC victory in 2003 in Australia was a big boost in bringing in "New Spectators" to the game.
As an example a friend of mine's 9 year old was so captivated in 2003 by RU after England's victory that he then nagged dad and they both went dowmn to his nearest ground to see what it's all about. Some 7 years later both he and his son are now season ticket holders at Wasps. And Dad's one time football season ticket has been replaced by a RU one.
One of the biggest boost for RL especially in the Capital would be for England to be crowned RL World Cup winners in 2013.
But let's face it who'd want anything to do with a bloody French idea? Defo not the M62 "Posse"........................................
