| The best UK based away trip of the year. But International match at Leigh and England v USA in the world cup on the same day!!!!
You doing anything special to make the trip compete with the above?
Hospitality and interactions with Quins fans is always good but I think this one is a challenging marketing proposition even for Rhino fans who always travel well.
Club coaches will set of at the end of the match which even stops us watching the football in a bar.
This one needs seriously thinking about.
Have I also noticed that away fans are now behind the posts?
Will the Rhino tickets be for behind the posts and do we have to stay there?

| what is this strange football thing you talk about????
ok not sure if yr club has picked up on this but there are 2 games being played on the 12th
Skolars will be taking on York at 2-30
and then the main game after that
As for seating, not all the away fans go behind the sticks, all depends on how many we think you will be bringing as to if the stand is opened
Tickets for the east stand will be available with the away fans tending to be at the north end of that stand
come on mate you know you want to do it

| Lots of questions there!
The tickets for the larger travelling away fans have been behind the sticks although some of the fans go in the east stand sitting nearest to that end of the ground
You stay in your seat for the whole game down south I’m afraid-unless you missus will swap with you for variety. The other option is the Wigan walk when you are getting spanked by the mighty Quins-We don’t have an early exit turnstile unfortunately
I believe we have York V Skolars on as the pre game that day
I doubt even Quins would not put the WC England footy on the TV that day
The bar will be open as ever and no doubt a band etc
Come and have a good day out at the Stoop-Hopefully the sun will be shinning

| Found this bit on the Quins site when the double header was announced:
London Skolars will begin proceedings with their Cooperative Championship 1 fixture against York City Knights at 2.30pm, before Harlequins play their engage Super League fixture against reigning champions Leeds Rhinos at 5pm. The day promises to an epic one for sports fans who, after the Quins RL game, can watch England’s World Cup group game against the USA on big screens in the bars.
This will be the first London Double Header ever held between the capitals two professional rugby league clubs and marks a new chapter in their close working relationship.
As for the England game against France as that was planed after this announcement. I expect it will be on in the Bar,but as our game against you kicks off at 5pm and the England RL game kicks of at 5-15pm, its up to you if want to watch your team or stay in bar and watch that. The Football kicks off at 7-30pm.
As for seating as Leeds normally bring a big following down i would expect your be in the stand beind the sticks and if sunny best place as sun shines right into the East Stand. But im sure you can get tickets in this stand as well if you wish to be closer to the bar (under stand) so you can pop in and see how EnglandRL are getting on.

Why? Had they hired a helicopter to get them from London to Leigh for 5.15pm?

| The RL Express letter was rather ridiculous as they called on Quins to do "the decent thing" and switch the game to a 3pm kick off. For goodness sake, if everyone of us knew what time this game was going to kick off ahead of the season starting, why on earth is it such a shock to Leeds?

That's not what it says.

The point is .... No-one apart from Quins KNEW it was going to be a 5pm start.
Leeds apparently were unaware of the change until the tickets arrived the other week ....
Has the proper proceedure for a fixture change been undertaken with the RFL ? If so, then you've got nothing to worry about. Then again, the 'official' RFL website was still listing the game as a 3pm start in to the early hours of last Wednesday morning.
The other question is just how many fans are the Skolars going to put on your gate ? Hundreds at the most .... Kick them off at 1-ish, the main game at 3-ish then everyone in to the bar at 5pm for the England Vs Fance game and whoever's standing can watch the Wendyball World Cup game afterwards ... Makes perfect sense to me.

So, you're a Fleet Street editor with one hack to cover RL .... Which game do you send him to ?
Send him Ooopp North and ensure that your double-headed game gets virtually no coverage at all ....
Send him to The Stoop and ensure that the RFL are on your back for not covering an International, blah blah 'international football' ... blah blah 'pinnacle of the game' etc.

However, under RFL bye-laws, Leeds have the right to ask for the game to be postponed ....
Given the previous comments about the game and the kick off time, how much damage would that do Quins by swapping from a lucrative weekend game to a midweek match, where the northerns will probably bring very few with them ?
Would the Skolars Vs York game still go ahead on its own at The Stoop or would you kick them back up to North London ?
Would you be able to attract possible replacement sponsors, if the weekend corporates withdraw ?

| Unbelieveable....I said it when the international was announced and I will repeat it now, the Double Header should have been arranged AFTER the RL international fixture and the wendyball draw.......as it is, the double header could turn out to be Skolars playing at the stoop...er......that's it
And before I get jumped on...I know WE THE FANS have no control over it, but it does make you wonder exactly who is doing what at the club.
How hard can it be to liaise with the RFL? Surely when permission was asked to move the Skolars home game to the stoop the RFL would have mentioned the International? Surely, someone would have looked at the game schedule for the wendyball comp?
Sorry........but this is a fiasco. 30 years in the making and they manage to make a pigs ear of it..........and if Leeds do postpone it, what then?

It would appear no-one did in the six months between announcing the double-header and this mess coming out in to the open. Hence all the Leeds fans making travel plans based on 'official' websites, which up until last week and the letter in the League Express all had the game down as a 3pm start.
I understand Leeds, when they finally got the tickets the other week, weren't happy about not being told the 5pm start time and were raising the matter with the RFL.
Now if someone had been half clued up and either contacted Leeds or bothered to check the kick off times the club held against the ones on the RFL website, there might not have been the situation of people writing in to League Express and all the hassle on here.
Now the international call-ups have come along and given them the excuse, who's to say they won't 'turn the tables' and postpone the game a week on Saturday ?
Playing what might be considered as one of the more lucrative home fixtures on a Wednesday night will seriously dent the revenue the club makes from the game ....
