Does anyone else find it funny that the amount of stick us Giants fans get from other teams supporters about how empty our stadium looks due to poor support. Yet two of the biggest and well known clubs in the country let alone the world and they cant even sell out a 24,000 seater stadium. In fact one of the biggest stands (Britania rescue) is not even open. Now that is funny.

i personally couldn't give two hoots how many people go to watch Leeds v Saints,or any other 2 teams for that matter...........sorry !!

Yes - not Leeds or Saints fans

Nothing funny about it at all, a major semi final with a place at Wembley at stake and a whole empty stand on one side of the pitch is not a very good advert for the game and possibly makes future semi's and international matches at the stadium less likely. And apart from that until our own support levels (especially away) improve substantially then I don't think we deserve to castigate/take the mickey about other clubs support levels.
Have we managed to take 12000 supporters to our recent semi's ??? People in glass houses springs to mind.

They are better though. The likes of Leeds, Saints and Wigan travel in big numbers.

My concern about it is that it is a terrible advert for RL. If we cannot fill out a smallish stadium for one of the 6 most important games in the season it makes us look like a small insignificant sport.


Pricing policy needs to be looked at to make games like this a sell out.

Full stadiums for big televised games makes the GAME OF RL look better.

TBH, we are a small sport. I think the Challenge Cup plays second fiddle to Super League these days. I reckon it's a tough job for the RFL to balance the pricing, and historically the RFL aren't up to handling tough jobs.

I agree it doesn't look good for the wider audience. And I know what the OP is saying! These are supposed to be the most successful clubs and to say that Leeds could sell out half of the capacity given their home crowds its suprising they haven't. I bet if they get to Wembley they'll be much more than 12K there and it's more expensive but they haven't got there yet! But obviously the occasion will play a part! Maybe it doesn't help that Leeds United play Derby at the same time!!

I know we can't complain given our own appauling crowds, but for the stadium on the whole it's still bad news! How many showpeice games at our stadium have actually sold out? Not many!!

I don't get it. If you support your team why would you not bother to go to a cup semi final.

I can remember the play-offs last year suffered lower than average crowds.

The fact it's on the BBC won't help and the pricing is not right, far too expensive as many will be families and it's alot of money when you can sit at home with your feet up to watch.

I was considering going along, but they are charging far too much.

Just come across this thread as I was browsing around. Apparently the empty stand you are going on about for the challenge cup was never going to be opened. Saints and Leeds were told which stands they were selling tickets for as soon as the venue was announced. That empty stand was remaining closed. Don't blame the fans from Saints and Leeds for not going to the game. Blame the RFL for not allowing it to be opened.

Oh and Leeds have sold 95% of their allocation.

Congratulations to Leeds. I'm well chuffed for them. If Danny McGuire had a bit more aggression/bottle he'd be a superb player.

I apologise regarding the lack of Leeds fans it seemed it was the Saints fans that seemed to be slow on the ticket takeup! It appears that the Kilner bank stand was going to be opened as Leeds sold out their allocation but they decided to relocate 4 blocks designated for Saints fans to Leeds so it would look better on tv!!. Leeds outnumbered Saints By 2-1!

Really enjoyed the game was end to end, lots of mistakes but an enjoyable contest.

The pass from Buderus was brilliant, and thought McGuire was MOTM, as he made the difference with his pace.

Only thing that dissappointed me was the ref, thought he was poor, but then again it was Bentham!
