Message to Mods - This may be of interest on your board only because the supported charity is based in Huddersfield and at the moment only supports bereaved parents in the Huddersfield and Mirfield area although they are hoping to spread this to the greater Calderdale area soon, please remove if you feel that it doesn't belong here though...

Its that time of year again, the time of year when I get my trusty (rusty) bike out of the garage and embark on another cross-country bike ride for fun, for something to do of a weekend, and at the same time raise a bit of dosh for a charity - because I'm nice like that.
onemorehill.wordpress.com/ is the blog that explains about the ride
www.hadrianswalk.org/ is the blog that explains about the rest of the fundraising
www.thejosephsalmontrust.org.uk/ is the charity that we are supporting this year
allthatcomeswithit.com/archives/2523 and this is one story from many that explains why
Next Monday 60 walkers from all over the world will set off to walk the length of Hadrians Wall, Bowness on Solway to Tynemouth, 88 miles in total, they are walking over six days and hoping to raise £20,000 for the Joseph Salmon Trust, a Huddersfield based charity established with the sole aim of providing practical financial support to the parents of children who have died, the charity having been formed in memory of Joseph Salmon, a three year old little boy who died in his sleep in 2005.
I'm not walking though, oh no, thats hard work is all that walking, instead I'm taking a team of ten cyclists on the 88 mile Hadrians Walk route and we're riding it in one and a half days, easy peasy, we'll even stop for pubs.
So what am I asking of you ?
I'm hoping that some of you might find a few quid to support us with at
www.justgiving.com/hadrianswalkers, or better still, rather than just simply donating money with no pecuniary advantage to yourself, why not buy a t-shirt or a wonderful Buff from this place
www.justgiving.com/hadriansmerchandise or even better still, buy a raffle ticket for just £1 from here
www.justgiving.com/hadriansraffle and be in with a chance of winning some rather nice prizes that we've all been playing with these last few weeks, some of them aren't even broken yet.
My torture on the weekend of 10/11th July will be so much easier in the knowledge that you're all laughing your socks off as you stand at your front room window watching the rain lashing down your street and you're picturing me pushing my bike up some mountain in the northern pennines, go on, give us the price of a pint and buy some raffle tickets but especially buy a Buff for they are wonderful, stylish, contemporary, limited edition, and very cheap, and we've ordered fookin hundreds of them and they're not selling very well.
Thank you
Gary
