could the rumours be true and he's going to replace brett as full back next season. If he were to come imho we've got the best deal. They've got a very good short term fix with Brett but if mathers comes to us we've got someone with the best years ahead of him who will only get better with age. Out of all the fullbacks who are out of contract next season he stands out a mile. If possible I'd try to do a swap deal now. Brett been a fantastic player for us but could free up some more money and enable us to bring in Mathers plus someone else!!!! Just a thought that could benefit both clubs!!

Clearly [uif[/u Moran had valued Mathers he would be offered [umore[/u than 1 year when signing a 32 yo Aussie Fullback. He's 26 and a UK fullback with England aspirations - he's obviously not going to stay to play reserve footie. |

Mathers has been in fantastic form last few months, none of that Wigan form has popped up.
Most Wire fans (yes honest and shockingly as this will sound) actually think Mathers is a better fullback at the moment.
TS obviously knows how to get the best out of Richie, he's easily been one of our stand out players lately.

Why would David Hodgson move to full back. He does not really strike me as the safest under the high ball and besides is ok were he is (leading try scorer in super league)
It would be much better to bring in a specialist full back but i really hope this is not Mathers.

Very safe under the high ball. Was excellent at full back for Salford, experienced , strong tackler, would run the ball out hard, would be able to chime in with attack. |

I cannot comment on Alex Brown as i have hardly seen him play. Leroy is a good choice for one wing. I have real worries about Mc Gilvaray's defence. Time will tell. i was wrong on KB at no 6. Hopefully i will be wrong on McGilvaray. |

Saints fans still have problems with Meli's defence but he's still a member of one of the most successful teams recently.
That said we could both be wrong and put any old charlie on the wing as Brearley thinks you don't need any skill, speed or experience to 'walk in tries'. As a former winger I'd massively disagree with that but then again as a former winger of course I would! |
