Is this from performances for other clubs because it certainly cannot be for performances in a Giants shirt.

arnold scored plenty of tries for the giants in the bad days of super league for us

fleary and laughton always battled hard and never gave up agianst the odds for us too

fleary was also captain and playing for his hometown with pride!

Laughton was shocking for us end of. In fact probably the only person i have seen put in worse performances at the Galpharm was his brother.

Fleary tried hard but was well past his best when he came to us.
Arnold came from Saints with a big repuatation but offered very little.

Good list, I'd throw Adrian Toole in there as well though.

and how somebody can put de vere in the giants hall of fame is a joke

the amount of tries he scored in two seasons for a centre is the worst any centre in the giants history!

I wouldn't have de vere in mine neither but to judge him on the amount of tries he scored is wrong because he was a defensive centre just like lawrence is.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, anyone who didn't rate De Vere didn't fully appreciate the game. There is more to the game of RL than scoring tries. De Vere became a scapegoat because he got injured early in his time with us. Instead of scoring tries, why not compare missed tackles for De Vere versus anyone.

He scored a cracking try at Odsal against Leeds in 2006 and for that I rate him!

Can I ask, where is Brandon Costin? For my money, Brandon is the best player to play for us in the upper echelons in my memory up until Brett Hodgson came along (I'm 33). He left a champion team in Bradford to come back to a set of no-hopers like us when we got promoted back into SL after beating Leigh at the Halton.

He lived round the corner from me in Pudsey when I lived there, and I used to talk to him from time to time but he didn't know I was a Huddersfield fan. He is a cracking fella and he'd be my No. 2 after Brett. He kicked the goal in the draw down at London where our SL fortunes turned around. He was my (our) talisman.... maybe not the bestest ever player we've ever seen, but the right man at the right time.

F*cking hell, I'm choking up here!

Indeed it's no coincidence that Martin Aspinwall was our top scorer the season he played with De Vere as his centre. I may be old-fashioned but I always feel you judge a centre by how many tries his winger scores.

And how could I have forgotten Kenny Kerr. tut tut.

(but on the QT --he played when we WON at wembley and captained GB when we beat the Aussies ==so you cant knock him !!

it is a pity that more of us did not see some of the greats who would be genuine hall of famers as opposed to those who have shone when we were in the lower leagues even if they did give us a lot of pleasure at the time.

on the pre game show today in the nrl they were disussing players who gave 100% everyweek for their teams rather than showmen who come and go, of the three top players mentioned, one of them was our very own mick devere...at least the aussie greats on the tv.. tallis etc recognised de vere's class even if a lot of our fans didnt
