I only found out when I went to the GP surgery this morning in Newsome - apparently we should all have our windows shut and stay indoors???? schools shut etc etc

I would think any damage would have been done by now with having windows open all night, with the heat

As nobody has stopped doing their daily stuff, buses are running, shops open, and no sign of any vans going around with tannoys giving guidance, I assume that all is well

I could here what it sounded like fireworks at 1.05am I looked out of the window and I have never seen flames so bloody high in my life. I called fire brigade and they said fire engines had been dispatched. 2 loud explosions followed around 2am then and a 3rd at 3am which was the loudest I have ever heard. It's still smouldering now!! A62 now open though. Thought I heard sirens which I thought was odd seeing as it still very early morning. And I did hear bangs but thought nothing of it till I saw the 185 pass my house this morning and looked on the internet and saw someones comment on facebook saying the schools were closed. I have walked down there today and seen the enviromental service monitoring the air and there is quite a pong in the air, but the Policewoman directing the traffic for the fire engines still attending isn't wearing her mask so it must be ok! Also the wind has changed direction as it's now blowing the smoke towards Marsden.

They make pesticides, herbicides and recently acquired a 5T emulsion polymerization reactor at that site. I wouldn't want to be breathing in any smoke from that fire at any level. They can't enforce the wearing of masks but if I were there, well, I would wear one.

I suppose they they won't be able to smell it over the manure in Marsden!

That'll be why the Fire engines were tearing down the A62 at 88mph yesterday morning.
