As a Wakefield fan I am interested to know whether you think the signing of Danny Brough mid-season has disrupted your patterns and is affecting your performances. Or do you think it is something else?

I am not trolling, and have not seen a lot of your games but was just wondering if both clubs would have been better off if Broughy had stayed with us till the end of the season. His loss mid season has definitely affected us, was just wondering how the majority of Huddersfield fans felt.

We seem to be struggling a bit to integrate Paul Cooke into our team as the coaching staff haven't had a period without games in order to work on some new patterns (hopefully that will be being worked on last week and this). Is this what has happened with you?

I would say yes it has, no fault of danny's but we seemed a settled side with brown and robbo, lets not forget brough on his day is a very good half back with an excellent kicking game, but it does appear to have had some disruption to the team especially in attack, added to the fact our captain and leader has signalled his intention to leave and our coach is lookin like following him out of the club as Well as other off field problems i think we are currently down in the dumps as fans and as a club, morale seems to be very low right now with no indication its going to get better

This has NOTHING to do with Danny Brough. He is just becoming the easy scapegoat to pin everything on . This is due to the fact that no one knows what the other issues are that are effceting the team.

If the problem was a misfiring attack and confusion in the halves i would say yes. The fact that our defence has gone to pot, some players are leaving, the coach seems to be making strange decisions etc. Also i would say that Robbo has been a revelation at Hooker and has been our stand out player.


After yesterday i am more inclined to believe that CSI style Dr Jekyll visited a training session which Aspy, Robbo and Mase missed and the rest opf their players had their hearts surgically removed.


Do not fall into the trap which is being set up by trolls and naysayers to make themselves feel better about saying i told you so. Do not make things worse by making one player a scapegoat for something else.

Brough's move will take time to settle in properly, but it is NOT the reason we have played so badly recently. I think that has a lot more to do with the uncertainty around our captain and head coach.

We have had mid season signings before and this has nothing to do with Danny.

Come on lets be honest, Danny Brough has offered nothing to our team, as soon as we signed him he has done nothing. You can be critical of our own players its ok. Yesterday all of our players were utter rubbish, and they have a lot to prove. But Brough is something else.

You are not 100% correct about Danny but you'll find out in good time that he's unsettled the camp already and i'm sure when you do you'll admit it. He's not to blame for EVERYTHING as you rightly say and the last couple of performances can't be put down to Danny alone.

In reply to the OP, no. We are suffering a slump in form. Co-incidentally at the exact same point in the season last year we suffered a similar slump. However last year we were lucky that we played Celtic Crusaders at Murrayfield, Wakefield (not trying to be facetious but we do usually get good results against Wakey) and also Rochdale in the cup. Our slump continued into the Challenge Cup QF where, if Castleford had had any nous we would have lost but instead got a lucky break with two late tries.

This month was going to be the toughes [iany[/i team in SL faced, the dumb bad luck is it also co-incided with out mid season slump.

I have no doubt we will be in 4th come the end of the season, and might even get somewhere in the playoffs without the cup distraction/injury issues.

As for the cup game...

Our entire back line had a total nightmare, the forwards were average and underperforming, barring a couple of exceptions but our halves were ok I thought, Brough did some good stuff, Brown was very good as ever but with a beaten pack and a non existant back line what the hell were they supposed to do?

Simple fact is we will not play that badly again all season.

Brough is a very good player but surley its just gonna take time for him to settle with new moves, systems, team mates, training venue etc... Having said that he does come accross as a bit of a a!%e, and he has had a fair few clubs and he aint that old.
Has the whole pre season thing playing on some of the players, i aint heard anything about it just wondered what your thoughts were?

Good point from mad jack. Hopefully we will get over it. the players flagellate themselves this week and we get a reaction against Wigan next week.

You went to Wrexham right? Then you surely saw what he can do.

He has pace to burn, great footwork, reads the game well, has a massive kicking game, good passing skills and a desire to win.

Other than that, no he gives us nothing.

But he's NOT got the brains to command a team (he could learn a lesson from Brad) and I still say he chokes on the big games - relegation battle for Cas, semi-final for us and now this for you. Missing touch with a penalty - get used to it! I've seen him kick conversions from the touchline AND miss penalties from right in front of goal. Great players are consistent.

Having said all that - yes I'd have him back! RL is rarely dull if DB is playing!

I certainly did, and lets be honest the cru's were not up to much and there was no pressure on him when he was kicking, kevin brown kick was nice to set up hodgson though, am i right in saying we have not scored from a kick which Brough has kicked?

As foe the Giants fans just listen in the stands next time and see how many people dislike him.

No. I can remember Brown scoring off a Brough kick against Catalan for starters. He made two and scored one that night, Brough.
