| As a kid or even as an adult depending on when you first started watching who was the 1st player you classed as as your hero ?
the 1st i can remember is the old prop Dave Nelson - as a 13/14 year old i had never seen anyone like him before as i remember him smashing into the opposition on those cold winter days at Fartown and leaving them on the ground and the few fans on the terrace shouting 'nelly nelly' everytime he had a hit up.
then came Wally...............

| Back in the days when my Dad took me to the 2nd team matches it was Eddie Strong.
Then when I progressed to the first team I think it was a toss up between Frank Dyson, Tommy Smales, & Ken Senior. Although I was quietly astounded with Don Close - playing rugby for us and then cricket for Yorkshire - sometimes on the same day!!

when i was a kid i used to play soccer with him in Greenhead park. he was very good we called him Pele probably being black, fast and skilful made it obvious he would get that nickname. My two sisters were friends with his sisters as well.

| Mt first hero was Steve Lyons becuas he looked a bit like my dad with a big barrelled chest. Always good for a fight. Often on eof the few Huddersfield players who semed to put effort in to every game.
Closely followed by Mich shepherd who was an england under 24 international or something and i thought this is the player we can build the team around and make Fartown great again.
I am still waiting but at least we seem to be getting closer.
After those two it was anyone of the big names who all symbolised the new begining for Huddersfield, Wally , Mc Banana, Drew, Robbie all those playrs who made other teams sit up and take notice of us.
i am hoping Faalogo will be the next one.

I might know you then! I grew up with Gilly, we lived next door to each other in Marsh. He's 2 years older than me and talked me into going to Royds Hall. He became my bodyguard, and suffice to say, I was never bullied at school! 3 guys who were 2 years older than Gilly were bullying my mate so I told Gilly, he laid all 3 of them out at the same time and they never bullied anybody again! Top bloke as already been said.

| A player I always remember fondly is Greg Pearce for that kick from the touchline against Featherstone. Never saw it, couldnt watch so had my head in my hands but knew he kicked it when the crowd went wild.
After that Adrian Toole - giant of a man with hands like shovels. Always remember playing away at Dewsbury, it was freezing and all but our game had been called off. He played and tore his knees to ribbons on the hard ground!
Been others since but there always is isnt there.
