I don't think his comments about O'Loughlin are going to help you much when you play against Wigan in the next match.
No doubt Wigans forwards will be "looking after" their players and they'll probably have Fa'alogo and Mason slap bang in the middle of their sights.
Just the small matter of a rematch with Warrington to come the week after that then Bradford and Saints.

| Today was a game where everything we did, came off. All teams have them.
Hope you get your game back on track, do the Pies next week and it would be great to meet you again at OT in October.

| If you'd heard the interview, which is on the BBC website if you care to have a look around, then you would realise his comments weren't just about the O'Loughlin tackle. So your point is kind of redundant.
I doubt they'll have Fa'alogo in their sights anyways seeing as he's out for 3 weeks yet.
ATEOTD it doesn't matter who we play because playing like that we will lose. When we play at our best we're a match for anyone, it is now up to Brown to get them back up again.

| Pretty appalled by today's performance. Only Robinson, Aspinwall and Mason semed to put the effort in.
Hodgson was poor and unfit.
Leroy terrible whilst it was Hodgson that dropped the pass it should never have been made. Hodgson is not going to go 80 yards and you could see the defensive line was well up. It was as bad a piece of judgement by cudjoe as it was a catch by Brett.
Eorl had a poor game and to be honest has not hit his form of last season at any time this year.
Gilmour makes too many mistakes.
Horne why was he picked. despite injuries to other players he offers nothing.
jammer has obviously forgot how to play after his week off.
Fatz looked as though he has already left the team.
I would rather Nathan go now and we start building for next year.
We are out of the cup and it is clear that we will do nothing in the playoffs.
We will not beat Wigan, Wire, saints, this year not in a game that matters. ( we may pick up a couple of league wins depending on what happens to them in the cup If wigan get a tough draw in the cup they will rest players next week i think.). and we would not beat a full strength Leeds.
We have got worse this season and some other teams have got better.
The big concern i have is that todays performance was by a team that has given up. there is something going on behind the scenes that have unsettled everything. The Police investigation, poor management by club officials over negotiations, coach leaving, players leaving or whatever. something is not right.
All the good work done over the last five seasons looks to be going down the plughole.
We will see next week whether the team is on the way out. If they come back with a good performance and win then there might be something to play for. Another performance like that and the club will be down in the gutter with salford.

| I don't think it's THAT bad. I think that we can turn it around but that without doubt there is something going on that has affected the players. Looking at time lines the Brown/Hodgson events are the two likeliest suspects and not the Newcastle thing.
The players can do it and we have seen them do it this season. But whatever has happened it needs sorting out as soon as possible.
We've been in the dumps since the Hodgson affair and then it was compounded with Brown basically saying he's off as soon as the first decent offer comes. We need the coach to say he's staying put or not. If he's not, foxtrot oscar now.

I agree. Your fans don't deserve a top SL side. I say fans because they certainly aren't supporters.
The turnout at Wembley last year was embarrassing too.

The Wembley turnout wasn't embarrassing. 20k+ turned up for us, it was just Wire took comfortably more than that.
The diehards deserve the very best because they've been and watched through some right crap over the last 20 odd years. For you to say we don't deserve the best is just ignorant and foolish. Come from where we've come from and tell me how your lot would do. Some of the oldskool fans we have are the mutts nuts, the best fans in the world. It's easy for some fans to sit in judgement but ATOETD if anyone knew half of what our club has been through then they wouldn't make such ignorant comments.

| I hear what you're saying danril and you are right that the club has been through alot of crap and the fans who have stood by the club through thin and thinner are very special, rugby league diehards. I do think era of the biff has a valid point though, far too many of the 'fans' who came to the final were daytrippers who wanted to see wembley and have a day of fun in the sun. Sat in the stand the saints fans we had sat with us made more noise for the Giants than the bulk of Giants speccies in our block and it really does my nut. I'm not really bothered about how many trophies we win or whatever because like you I will stay Huddersfield come what may, I love the club. Admission is cheap, we have great deals on season tickets and family ticket packages but all of this has not done as much as it should to get a really strong, loyal following. I feel for Davy, he has my total respect....he must feel like calling it a day every now and again when he looks at the empty portions of stands and then see's support like the wolves today. Huddersfield is a soccer town, sad but true.

| At times it is really, really annoying.
To a degree I think we do need to improve our marketing of the games though. We could take a leaf out of Wigan's book, their marketing is the best in the game IMO. I also think there should be some central marketing arm with the RFL that could go and work with all the clubs.

| We wouldnt have won a Challenge Cup tie this weekend no matter who the opposition playing as we did today. Salford beat us the other week - a sign of things to come.
Looking at the players today - has NB lost the dressing room one wonders. I know its only one game but if we play like that next week we'll get another tonking against the pies.
With regard to marketing I dont think the club can do much more - lets just face it the people of Huddersfield just cant be bothered!?. Cheap season tickets, etc etc and walking through Town today they would much rather go shopping or watch it on TV. I sell Golden Gamble tickets before the game with my seven year old son who stands with me freezing cold (it was cold today) collecting the money because we care about the club. We only come from Shipley but we still make the effort, Durham obviously comes a long way good on him as do other supporters, and people who buy golden gamble tickets care about the club - they are a quid for goodness sake but for those that buy them I salute you - thank you.
It saddens me however that a Town with such proud sporting traditions of the past breeds such apathy.

| Couple of points on this thread that deserve commenting on. You won't talk to any Wire fan who was expecting that today - we've known for a while we've had it in us & you only have to look at Lee Briers pulling out the bag of tricks in the 2nd half to appreciate that it was one of those special days for a rugy team where everything works. However we certainly didn't expect a performance like that against a team like the Giants & will expect a much more competitive game in a fortnight.
As has been said also, it was a game where as much as everything went right for us, nothing went right for you. Silly errors, knock-ons, missed touch, bounce of the ball & 50/50 decisions all went against you. Your players were off the boil & while you can afford to carry a couple in a game not firing on all cylinders you can't afford to have 12 or 14 having a bad day as you did today. 12 months ago Harlequins (yes Harlequins) put 60 on us at the Stoop & we moved on - same as you will move on from today. You have a rotten schedule of fixtures playing us & Wigan twice each in 4 weeks, but then us & Wigan would say the same to play you twice would be difficult games. You'll bounce back I have no doubt.
As for fans, well it was a pretty poor turnout today - 6000 with half being away fans is a pretty poor show. However scheduling a cup round the week after Magic Weekend isn't the greatest idea ever. And 20,000 at Wembley, well so what if they were glory hunters - had you won you'd be over 10k average attendance this year and at least you can fit them all into the ground! We took 30,000 and can only squeeze 14k into our ground so plenty of glory hunters there!
Good luck v pies next week & see you in a fortnight.

| Salford knew we were disrespecting them with the squad we put out and went right at us and we had no answer. That was a shocking decision by Nathan to rest the players he did, Salford are a bit of a bogey side for us as well. I was happy for Salford that day, good club and decent fans and we got exactly what we deserved. Although to be fair our support that day was great. Typical the time we get a good away following, the team cacks it's pants.

Top post. No-one saw that result coming today. Let's face it, Brett Hodgson wasn't fit to play and you made so many unforced errors in your own 20. You met Wire on a day when absolutely no-one would have beaten us. I did think that the problems you've had in the last couple of weeks might have an effect, but everyone from Warrington thought it would be a close game.
The only thing you can do now is to get back on the horse and give the Pies a hammering next week.

| You can take it how you want today - but as Ive said to a mate (who might not now go down again in the foreseeable) in 62 years a fan this was as far down as Ive witnessed --even when we were struggling for survival and there were only a few more on the terraces than there were on the pitch!!
In those bad times the club and its few diehard fans were in dire straits --and the team most weeks on a hiding to nowt--but I`ll tell you summat ---they didnt throw the towel in !!
and thats what hurts --!!
If it was just today --then it could be classed as a blip !
But Salford / Edinburgh / and today have I feel been indicative of some underlying prob
Plus the errors re Hodgson`s leaving and the timing of the announcement
But what saddens me most is not missing out on another Wembley visit
Its the "manner" in how it happened --and all the other erosive events
Has it not occurred to anyone else that Nathan might be a bit "edgy" and miffed that he HAS lost his captain /man of steel. and Mr Consistent??
Might this have happened because the "1 year" deal was based not on fitness or ability but purely financial
Some of our other "strengthening" might be a little below our ambitions and [uhis[/u shopping list??
And as such -- he might feel that promises made when he got the job havent been fulfilled like the Whitehall mob we`ve listened to regularly lately!!
Just a thought!
A few more things sicken me!
DG and Faraway make regular trips of nigh on 200 miles to watch their team and have done for seaons
Theyre proud of their allegiance and rightly so
But in these depressed times to spend their hard earned cash travelling to Edinburgh and the Galpharm to watch PROFESSIONAL ???? sportsmen play with so little pride passion and skill is an insult to their devotion
I felt that at half time last week --we were in with a chance --not so
I felt that this week, at half time, the game was probably out of reach --a game that a trip to Wembley hinged on !
Did that not provide enough incentive to these fellas??
In a one off game like this -- what would they have to lose by coming out for the second half and throwing it about
If Wires had intercepted and scored --so be it --it couldnt have been much worse
but hell ...................give it a go and ..............and if they`d got somewhere near they might have gained some respect
Instead - it was down the middle boredom
They were playing a cup tie -on TV -and representing the claret and gold ...................................and showed as much fire and spirit as a sleeping tortoise
We were considered (by such as Phil Clarke) as a side who had raised our image and made great strides
Sadly last week and this the image was tarnished and the strides for me were backwards
and whatever the reasons , which the poor fans may never get to know,...................it sure as hell sickens me !--- probably KD----and many many others I fear!!!
