This picking teams thing is good fun . Not as easy as it looks. the one thing i would say is that NB does not go for the obvious and that players who have just come into the squad do get played so i would not be surprised to see Wardle in there somewhare.

It is clear that even our own fans have no idea what the team will be so it makes it harder for opposition coaches.

I still think that NB has not played his han dof what his A team will be and is trying to keep all the players hungry and competitive.

Id love for us to get a great crowd for this one, if we can pull off a win it might give us some huge momentum for crowd building this season

i will be hoping for at least 9-10,000 for this, we achieved 9,400 against bradford and i am damn sure Wigan will bring more than they did !!

Official club statistics show that fri night games 40% of Season Ticket holders do not attend


Out of our group of 10. 4 cannot attend this game so some personal experience backs it up

If our ST sales are 5000 then that means that 2000 Giants fans will not be attending.

If Wigan bring 1500 then i reckon the attendance will be about 7000 to 7500. Tops.

I know of a lot of regular fans who have to travel who cannot attend fri night fixtures, with it being on Sky they will not attend.

Friday night games are disastrous for the Giants attendances regardless of whether they are on Sky or not.


Wigan would need to bring over 3500 for us to be anywhere near 10,000

Sam and Joel should be in the stands watching, so that's 2 to add on

If as you say 40% of our season ticket holders can't be bothered turning up for this match then I really despair (do we really deserve a competetive SL team



), if the regulars (season ticket holders) can't be bothered getting down to the ground to give the lads the support they deserve in a match like this then we might as well give up. I'll be really gutted for Ken Davey and Co if we don't get a 5 figure crowd on Friday, we'd around 8,000 Fartown fans there on Sunday and I'd expect them and a few more to turn up to watch a top clash with the current SL champions.
For what it's worth 1 of our regular gang is away on holiday but 4 more non regulars are coming to the game.

Some wont be able to make it, some will. Some will choose not to because it's on the box but some who perhaps aren't regulars may choose to come because potentially it's a cracking game. We'll just have to wait and see. There's no point kicking off about the crowd before the game has even started, let the haters do that if it proves to be a disappointing crowd.

I'm a bit perplexed at the moment with some attitudes on here. Things are going pretty well yet people search for reasons to complain, be that about players or crowds or whatever. Fair enough don't go crazy Hull KR style at this stage of the season but there's no value in actively searching for negatives either.

it is not that they cannot be bothered it is about Demographics.

A lot of our season ticket holders are women and children and families..

Smaller kids cannot stay up that late.. If i kept my kids up until 9.30 pm they would be going spare. By the time i get home it is nearly midnight so they do not go.

If parents are not taking their kids then they are less likely to go themselves. If they go they have to sort out a baby sitter it is not worth the hassle.

A lot of women dont want to be out that late on a friday night.

Lots of our fans also travel a long way to games. If you have a 250 mile round trip to a game doing that in a rush on a fidaynight in rush hour and then driving back late again puts people off.


we go through this every year and it is not the fault of the fans. It is a sad fact of life that Sky call the shots and it has a negative effect on our crowds.

Giants fans like sundays or saturday evenings and hate fridays.

Spot on Danril, FWIW if we beat Wigan on Friday, I think this will tease out a few more for the Wakey game as we'll start to bring in the glory hunters, sad but true.
