| It didn't cost us. In fact it brought our players closer together and showed we can do the hard stuff when we need to.
We all agree it was a daft thing to do.
We all agree that he shouldn't have.
However some folk need to calm down. It was a punch. You'd think some people had only being watching rugby league 2 years.

| Quote ="Baron Greenback"It does show Ferres initiating the incident though. He did shove Hanbury over.'"
Spot on , Hanbury has kicked on for the second time and the ball is 10 yds in front of him when Ferris shoves him in the back, ( which is a penalty ) Both were chasing a ball that was knocked on.
The shove from Ferris was no big deal, ( just a penalty ) neither was the one from Hanbury, but lets not pretend Hanbury instigated the incident cause he didn't, No amount of words will change what's clearly on the Video.

So it was provoked by Ferres and Hanbury didn't start it but he did get a clout.'"
Exactly what happened , but somehow the push from Ferris was ok ( even though it was a foul ) yet the push from Hanbury was starting a fight. unbelievable.

| And Hanbury milked it like a premier footballer
Ferres will cop a ban, but he might get sending off sufficient since he missed a game already

| You mean your opinion!!!
Just because you believe it, doesn't mean it's right.
Ferres pushed Hanbury competing for the ball (admittedly illegally)
Hanbury then started a bit of pushing and shoving after play had stopped.
That is how I have formed MY OPINION that Hanbury started it.

I agree Hanbury was doing his best to make it look as bad as he could, ( which is very poor sportsmanship ) Think Ferris will get a ban, Can't remember what Wardle got when he lamped Ablett, mind you he hit him quite a few times.

| Ferres punched him which is a red card and in my opinion a 1 to 2 game ban. What makes it more stupid is Widnes had knocked on so Silverwood was playing advantage. As soon as they get the ball it goes back to scrum to the Giants.

| Quote ="WV1"Widnes fan here!
First and foremost well done on the win!
A dire game, which was aided by the referee letting the play the ball become a disgrace.
Two poor teams on show in my view on. All 4 half backs on the field were poor and created nothing all day, the tries were all poor ones from both teams.
Thought your character and game management was second to none. You won the game in the first half by not letting us in. You can see why you're the best defensive side in the division.
One last point, why were you booing Rhys Hanbury throughout the 42 minutes he played and a small number of fans clapping Brett Ferres off? It was a disgraceful incident, which left Rhys with a constant stream of blood pouring from his nose and coming off with concussion 42 minutes in and will probably miss next weeks game due to the concussion rule.
See you next season!'"
re:half backs, i thought they created most of the tries today, it's clear to see how much widnes rely on brown, he was involved in everything widnes did today,
as for poor teams, i disagree, to play like we did for 70 minutes with a man short was a superb effort, i can't recall widnes ever really looking threatening, we closed you down well in midfield and defended superbly, even when you had numbers on us out wide, forcing errors from you,not only that but i thought we controlled the game very well for the majority of the 2nd half, that, to me, is a good team

Ok mate, Silverwood didn't think so,( WHICH MEANS NOTHING I AGREE ) Lets see what the beaks think after watching the Video. If he's really lucky he may get sending off is enough, but he'll need to be lucky.

He deserved to walk. He will probably get 2 games, baring in mind wardle got 2 and that was for repeated punching.
I just think that it's getting blown a bit out of proportion. And I will defend what I think is right. Not the punch but the circumstances surrounding it. It's not black and white. Ferres is not a thug who goes round hitting people for no reason. As I say though. This is only my opinion.
Can Ferres put in an EGP? Was the lomax incident the last time he was at red hall and was it over 12 months ago?

Agree.
Only one poor team out there and that was Widnes and that was because we made them poor. After the sending off the lads on the field stepped it up and did the extra work they needed to.
They were a credit to the shirt and have earned a week off.
As for Widnes. Everything goes through Brown. They only seem to have one set move where he get the ball back from a forward whilst deep. It worked for their 1st try but then we had it sussed. Very over rated player if you ask me.

To be honest I don't know, I can't remember when his last sending off was , or whether the early plea is on a season basis, Perhaps Stella kid will know , He/She seems to know all that sort of stat.

Last time he was charged was for the throw on lomax- was April last year.

That should go in his favour.

Just shows some people's lack of knowledge of the game.

Obviously its a game of opinions, but in my view you didn't make us look poor; we made ourselves look poor. We have been poor for the last 4 games and would you believe it today's performance was the best we've had recently. Shocking i know. Widnes never play it out wide, much to the dismay of the whole fan base. We insist on playing it up the middle with one of the smallest packs in the league, so I'm not sure you forced infield, its just the way we play.
We lost 2 of our influential attacking players in the game thorough injury (Hanbury and White) which made us look to Brown more often. Brown's blows hot and cold, when he plays well he's international form and when he plays bad he's really bad. We're a lesser 'one man team' than you are too!
Not an excuse by any means, but inures have shown how poor the depth is in our squad. We went into the game with 10 and sustained 3 more during the game.
I certainly wouldn't be giving Ferres someone of the bans mentioned. He's missed todays game (which should have cost you the game) and should miss next week, which Hnabury will probably miss. Nothing more in my opinion.

Good luck for the rest of the year.

| I've been reading these comments re BF with interest and thinking that I need my eyes testing! The incident happened right in front of us and my first thoughts were of horror as I thought Hanbury had been taken out by a sniper in the crowd, going down like a bag of spuds. I soon realised that no that was not the case when Hanbury sprung back to life as soon as the red card was brandished and Brown came in to pat him on the back looking like a cat who had just got the cream and not being able to control his obvious excitement that the Giants had lost a man. To me BF seemed to lunge his fist/hand in a forward motion into Hanbury's chest/neck area, I wasn't sure if the fist was clenched or not? So to me it appeared to be a push on Hanbury and not a swinging punch into the head area. Now I might be wrong reading all the other comments on here and will certainly admit I am wrong when I see some video evidence, but I have not seen this evidence yet. Maybe we will see something later today?

| ferres cracked him with a good un, how much it hurt we won't know but the way hanbury went down dramatically left a bad taste, would it have been a red if hanbury hadn't reacted like that? again we don't know
but ferres was stupid, it was a punch and he had to go and now we will probably lose him for another couple of games.
