The thing abouit De Vere can be seen by 95% of the players on everyones list.
How many forwards are named
the players who have been picked are those who were noted for their attacking flair ( and some for their commitment). As good as De Vere was it tends to be attackers and flair players that get remembered.
Look at Gary Connolly god knows how many caps but attacking wise at international level he scored about three tries i think.
the other problem with De Vere was his knee injury which affected his performances. / appearances.
I think the other thing about De Vere was that he came with such a reputation and people felt dissappointed ( hopefully faalogo) will not follow the same route.
lawrence reminds me of De Vere he will be solid without being spectacular but all teams need grafters as well as flair players.
I also feel Sorry for Chris Thorman. he was a great player for us throughout that period but fans only seem to remember the wreck left by Sharp.
De Vere was good but not a legend. then again 90 5 of the players mentioned cannot really be legends as most of them were great for us when we were second division team and cannot compare to the calibre of the players named by Crackers.
