Would think that Barrow would be the least likely of the 3. Without the rest of the criteria, the ground alone couldn't be up to scratch surely.
Widnes by a country mile for me, pretty clear they have already been given the nod - and good luck to em, I for one will miss em.

| It is only the writers opinion but I think he is wrong and Widnes will get it.
Regarding them being in the games heartlands could you imagine in football Man U having to stay in a lower league cos their ground is quite close to Man City.

| For me it just shows that the majority of SL fans and writers know absolutely zero about life outside SLE the must still think on the field results count for something.

| Bobbins article by a bobbins writer on a bobbins website. It'd be crazy if Barrow got a franchise ahead of the Smogs, unless Sky are having a new reality show where couples go for a romantic meal by candlelight in the middle of a rugby league field?

| The old Cumbria thing again.
Do these people not realise that the people in Cumbria are spread over a bazillion miles and that all of the built up areas are relatively small. No bigs tes will ever come from Cumbria.

Whilst I fully expect Widnes to be given the license, it's nonesense to say that Cumbria will never have a 'big' team. Historically, Barrow have been a very big team - particularly in the 30's and 50's. The Barrow team of the 50's supplied the backbone of the team that won the ashes. Although a long was off at present, there's no reason why that couldn't happen again.
Barrow on it's own is a larger place than 'big team' Castleford - and also the town of Widnes and Leigh. Barrow doesn't have any competiton from other RL clubs either. And I'm 100% confident that given the chance of a SL place, we could easily surpass the attendances of 'big teams' Harlequins, Crusaders and Salford.
As I say, Widnes will get the nod next week, but in 3 years time ....

I think if you look on wiki the total population of the Halton Borough area is 130,000, which is more than Barrow.About 60,000 live in Widnes, and we are also looking to attract from the wirral area.We have a decent catchment area if market correctly.Barrow is similar in size to Widnes and your catchment area is the villages in the lakedistrict.

| Barrow has not got a stadium fit for top tier RL as unfortunately that is one of the main criteria these days and the cost of upgrading the one they have would be too much, the best thing they could hope for would be a joint enterprise between the Council, private enterprise and the football club, but in todays financial climate thats a non starter.

| Barrow are if anything about fourth or fifth in line for a license. Their ground would have seen them turned away under the old system let alone the new one. Strong brown enveloped squad does not make a super league license.
