When Ian Millward originally arrived here, he took over a team that had finished rock bottom the previous season - and only avoided relegation due to twist of fate (on that occasion the re-vamp of the old 2nd/3rd divisions into the NFP). He turned round that team, they finished the season in 4th, and went out in the first round of the play-offs.
He didn't complete the following season, moving on to pastures new.....his replacement got us to the grand final, then onto the league and cup double, with an entertaining brand of rugby league that had the crowds flocking in!!!

Must admit that at times last night it felt awfully like that Fev game in '99 - we'd met our match and there didn't seem to be any inclination from the sidelines to change things.

Some times in life you have done your best but as a collective efforts its not good enough, that was the case last night. 6 or 7 will move on players will move in. The disappointment is in this sport you cant go any where bar down for 3 years!!

Paul Terzis was an outstanding coach

We were out on our feet in that game with the smiling assassin Brendan Tutu having a field day, last night we could ve and should ve won.

The disappointing thing for me was the fact we couldn't hang on to the lead for 2 mins to get the win ,i know a lot of games are won and lost in the dying seconds but don't think we have managed to steal a win this season have we

not a win but stole a draw with barrow with the last kick of the match

Yes we did but that was due to a penalty so i'm not counting that

ROBBIE won us the game at Haven when it looked like it could have gone either way.

To be fair it's about the only thing he's done from an attacking sense all season. Not a patch on Watson.

We played a fine brand of RL under Turk no doubt about it.

However fans questioned his motivational skills especially during the back end stages of his tenure.

I was one of them.

The thing with Turks was he thought he was one of the boys ,really liked him though

So are we saying that we didn't play good rugby under Millward. If thats what you lot are saying you are talking rubbish. Just before Ian left we were on fire. When he left, this club let our best players go just as they did when Simms left. And yes some peoples idol left us with Simms leaving this club right in the mire.

I'm not saying anything about the quality of rugby played under Ian Millward during his first run as Leigh coach, but the most entertaining rugby I've watched during the last ten years was when Paul Terzis was the coach.

I thought the exact same thing. We were very similar that day, flat and uninspired with no idea from the bench of how to change it.

That year also came after a dreadful season the year before in 1998 so there are a few parallels with 98/99 and 09/10.

But that season it was a bit more disappointing though as the season built and built to where we were confident going into that game with Fev. This year was the reverse, the season started well then sunk.
