What going on with the fence outside the library?

Probably an artistic representation of the canal using fencing to represent it

It was in the report or jornal, apparantly some traffic safety thing to stop people crossing the road there, and art

I think it looks quite good. When they plant all the climbers and bedding plants it will look even better. It won't last very long, what with all the scum and chavs that live in our town these days.

Must admit, I thought the same. Whenever they've made an effort to get a few plants on that section they've been trampled by people who are too lazy to use the pedestrian crossing 10 yards away, so I'm glad summat is being done to counteract it. Might have been done with a bit more class, mind.

Are there not CCTV cameras around there?

I cannot say I particularly liked it but may have thought differently when it was showered with climbing flowers.

It is despicable what people do and I hope the culprits are caught and charged.

I would start looking in and around every single garden in Leigh, Atherton, Tyldesley and Astley. I bet someones using it as a fence or something.

Maybe have a metal fence but with hanging baskets and the like to deflect from it appearing 'unsightful' in any way.

I saw it last Saturday and thought it was a fence that had either blown over or had been erected by someone under the influence. It was terrible and I can't help but think nobody woud notice bits missing or destroyed anyway.

Wanton vandalism is unfortunaly part and parcel of society today; but providing a magnet for the halfwits who list it as a hobby wasn't the most sensible of ideas.

As I predicted that eye sore of a fence would not last the first weekend , and I was right



As suggested earlier in this thread a discreet metal fence with hanging baskets would be ideal



As a professional driver I have 2 problems with the modern art bamboo curtain .

1, You cant see pedestrians crossing from the Town Hall side of the road , its dangerous , why would anyone put an art feature next to a busy crossing ?, if its an art work its meant to be looked at .

2, It entices p1ssed up , drugged up teenagers into the middle of the road at the dead of night to trash the thing .

When driving through Leigh centre what would you rather look at ? a poor flowery bamboo art work that attracts vandals or a dead kid or old person draped over your bonnet ?

I'm pretty sure if one of the three lights on the crossing was on red you wouldn't need to look for people trying to cross the road as there would be a 12 inch red light telling you that people want to cross the road and you should stop.

As someone who used to drive for a living if a traffic light was on red i would stop at that light, then look to see if anyone wanted to cross the road first
