To be honest, after seeing IM to correct the failings of our defence out wide for months on end, I've reached the point of questioning the logic of paying a fortune to a coach who can't change his tactics when a similar amount of money could mean we have two or three class players in the side.

Well when I heard you had signed him last year I asked myself the same question as I know he does not come cheap. Several years ago I bumped into David Howes and he asked me if I wanted Ian Millward to come to our club to do a fund raiser. He said he had done a few successful nights at various clubs and it could be a good money raiser.I asked what the format was and he replied "that he did an hour or so`s chat about himself then there was pie and peas or whatever the club wanted to put on". "Then he did a question and answer for another hour or so". He said that the other clubs were charging a tenner,I thought that sounded a good and would be something differant for our supporters. However he went on to say that I would need around 100 people there to pay for Millward I gulped "you mean he`s a thousand pounds" ? Well yes he replied . So I then asked who paid for pie and peas well you do so you would need a few more to pay for that and hire of room. When I said well after all that hopefully there may be a bit of change for the club I was fundraising for he gave me a funny look. Needless to say I did not take him up on his offer £1,000 was an awful lot of money plus in all the years I arranged ex-players ,managers and ex referee to come along for fund raising I have never had one ask for money.

I think it's worth mentioning that apparently 12 people have applied for Salford job.

Oh, and please remember Neil Barker is not exactly the most respected journalist in the area, or any area for that matter.

Vikingman will be pleased to hear I will definately not applying for the vacant coaching job at Widnes but I am reliably informed that the favourite for that job is currently coaching in Cumbria but is interested and has been approached by the Widnes chairman.

Wish I did. I remember him crying when we got knocked out of the playoffs. He was a top coach, vastly underrated.

I think most understand a situation that if a Championship club who now have no chance of SL have a contracted coach of SL quality on SL type money they probably would listen to an approach both in the interests of the coach and the club, unless the said coach will be playing a wider role in the development of that club.
Personally IM as chief exec/coach would be right.
Gives us a marketable CEO for credibility and to attract sponsors, plus a great coach with a structured way of doing things.

AJM left a few times..he was still welcomed back.

Its his livelyhood and our future, each should do whats in its best interests - strip the emotion away.

AJM brought us all our glory days, he could do what he wants and always be welcomed back.

IM turned us around in a time of need, but I dont see a Championship, Lancashire cup or CC winners medal around.

, I have always respected the manner in which you have posted and to be quite frank if it was aimed at me you are well out of order as you dont know me and vice versa.

Just to clarify, I agree that neither you or me could answer on his behalf but when you have given someone a fresh opportunity, security and previously have supported someone when others have had the knives out then I would personally expect a degree of loyalty, especially after handing someone 3 years security

The whole point of this forum, is for a few fanatics who love Leigh RL to share views, rumours, thoughts etc. If professional coaches or players were seriously affected by what they read on here then they shouldn't be in a job which puts them in the public eye in the first place. If we can't say on here what we have heard or what we think, then we might as well close the forum down.
