It seems a bit stupid doesnt it, the interested parties need to have a chat and create an environment that folk want to feel part of again.

Agreed Mo, its one thing providing a great stadium, its another providing a great home.

That said, the atmosphere at HP has been dire for a couple of years.

We need a supporters bar where the young fans can meet their heros after the game.

We need a bar and also some tables etc outside in summer.

We need face painting for the kids outside the ground.

Maybe a bouncy castle somewhere.

And wait for this a lot of the people who I go to the games with, leave before Half time as thats as long as they can last without a cigerette, I know the guests in the coporate are allowed outside to smoke, so why isnt there somewhere these lot can go. I kid you not about them leaving early.

They'd save a fortune in 'toilet attendants' watching for folk going in there for a crafty smoke. If I saw a boke in an orange jacket loitering around any other public toilet, I'd be ringing the bobbies.

Its not going to happen though. Too many obsticles and too much like hard work.

I agree totaly. I am against smoking in enclosed public places and wouldn't like someone sat next to me smoking, but the way smokers are being treated is surely against some sort of rights. What gets me about the whole smoking thing is that you see people who are keep fitters running by the side of congested roads expanding their lungs to the max, inhaling some of the most toxic fumes known to man. How can running through a city centre be good for your health.
The coroners report would read."This lad had a cracking heart but his lungs are knackered. Must have been passive smoking".

How do these smokers manage to sleep or get any work done?

I'm a smoker, and it hasn't been an issue to me so far. Have a fag just before going in - and spark up again as I exit the ground.

If someone can't manage a couple of hours between tabs, they are going to have serious issues. That 2-3 hour flight to your favourite destination in the Med is gonna be a bugger!!


If someone would sooner go and spark up at half time, than watch a nail-biter like the 'haven match, then more fool them!!
Take some bluddy chewing gum, or get a patch FFS!!

Back on topic - Simple answer - IMO NO.

We are better prepared and set up for the future than the last 4/5 years or so. Player development is looking good and things look promising for the next 2 or 3 years. We have a better platform to move forward. I know SOME of the players are maybe not as good as previous squad members but with the likes of Mort, Stanton, Higson, Hatton, Durbin, Meekin, Morrison, Taylor, Hill, Ridyard, Hobson (yes Hobson), Armistead etc.. still with their best years head of them then we can only get better.

I know some who have admitted to having a crafty fag in the toilets, cant understand why people cant go an hour and half without, if they go on a plane they have to.

What about us going backwards in our relationship with our younger fans? Does nt everyone think that the kids are the future fans and we need to look after them better.

do we still have a community dept? i would have thought it was their job.

as for the smokers who cant last the length of the game without a cig....i suggest you seek medical help and FAST

Yes we do and buy the photos under the West Stand the school kids love it. Oh and my little one looks lovely in his Leigh shirt on one of them.

Also like to say that during a recent game, two very very young fans walked down to the dugouts to try and get Hobbo and Jimmy Taylor signatures (they both had just come off) and was told they couldnt go near the dugouts.
Obviously they shouldnt have been there, but this was my point before, the fans have no where to go and meet the players any more. This is more important when we are trying to get the kids into the ground.
