How about selling in the new Morrisons on the stadium site? You will be able to see the Morrisons from the O'Neills office at LSV and vice-versa.

i think the way we are selling at the moment is fine because our shop never going to be rammed tbh! if we sold shirts in asda they would probably get nicked!

maybe we could work with the likes of asda, they put fixture lists up or something. Do we have any posters because i'll have one put up in the foundry??

I've e-mailed the club recently about sending fans who sign up for new an 'e-poster'. I think it would be a pretty easy idea, just create a template and change the fixture info on it, then send it out to fans with the newsletter and fans can download it and print it out and get poster all round the town.

No reply from the club though.

Sometimes you get a better response when you also include a solution, and although I'm not well up on this kind of thing but if its so easy (and I'm not trying to be funny here) couldn't one of 'us' do it for them, and simply post it on here, or send it to them for distrubution or would there be copyright issues?

I'd get some up at Stockport Station, plenty of through traffic and free advertising there! Not many leythers, but it would annoy the Sale Sharks fans, who coincidentally can't seem to get any advertsing up at the station. Starnge that every time they try, they get told where to go.

Either that, or every time they put posters up myself and a Stockport County fan (manager of station) take them all down and if they ask permission to put them up they are told no.

Getting back on topic, the best idea I have seen was when the RFL were in town when we played against the French. They had a mobile shop selling all the merchandise with credit card connection etc.

I know these don't come cheap, but what a fansastic idea. We could have it outside the LSV on match days and be in town the odd day selling gear (when we have something to sell) and match tickets. Mascot and players in attendance.

Maybe it would be a bit too expensive for a small club like us to buy one, but if the RFL got one and took it to games on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday it might help all clubs. Say Batley play Widnes on a Thursday, they could sell Batley and Widnes gear that has been sent by each club and International and RFL memorabilia and everyone gets a cut of the profit, everyone wins really. The RFL have to promise to visit every club down the leagues, maybe even tour town centres too, get full use out of it.

Your idea is a good one , albeit a couple of years late , the club has access to a trailer bought for the very purpose you suggest , if anything it is too big as it is 3/4 times bigger than the one you have posted a link to

The problem is staffing and stocking problems

You suggest the RFL should organize things , and you are correct they probably should at least help , what they should be doing is encouraging the clubs to work together in projects like this , 4 clubs locally all chipping in to buy a trailer and then helping each other with staffing

As Fred put earlier , ideally all the Championship clubs could if they really tried work together for the common good , unfortunately they cannot see the benefit of it , they just don't understand the idea that we only compete on the pitch , not off it

If you look at the other clubs websites in our league, they all have a superior number of replica gear than ourselves. We should be a leader in our league, apart from super doper Widnes who by the way have 8 new item on o'neills web site.

What we have is shocking for our club of our stature. We have no ambition - end off.

It isnt a lack of ambition , just that the rewards are not worth the effort involved , the percentage profit isn't great , and unless you do it ' full on ' it doesn't work

I'd disagree there Wayne , the playing side once sorted takes care of itself , the main purpose of ' the club ' once the squad is assembled is to make as much money as they possibly can , don't forget we are a business

I understand where you are coming from Wayne , but IMO when an ' income stream ' starts to become a ' cost ' then it's time to worry , in any business you can only cut costs so far , eventually you have to start to increase your turnover and gross profit , or your future will be bleak

So the question is , what can you sell , as that is what all businesses do in one form or another , they sell things , and Leigh Centurions are no different
