So after being out on the ropes we still managed to narrowly win the first round, and live to fight on.

Strangely I feel the disappointing finish may actually prepare us better for this game, we have these last few years put up good performances in our TV appearances, the added spice of a few ex-Salford players in our squad with a point to prove should hopefully lead to a great game.

It’s not necessarily a must win game but people will see this game as a good indication of whether this system is workable or whether the gulf in the leagues is too big a gap to fill.

Went to a wedding in Knutsford yesterday so perhaps I’m still under the influence

but I have the feeling we’re going to win this one.

Think we played the best rugby all year bar Saints at home yesterday. But we've been pretty inconsistent this year again so I'm not counting my chickens at all. Probably line up like

I am not sure whether the result of this one gives a pointer to it being a workable system or not Glow due to the fact that without the 6 point deduction, Salford this year are a top eight side and not a bottom 4 one............however if we did win then that's not a bad pointer.

If we massively improve our attack, defence, penalty count, error count and focus... we might have a chance against Salford.

Anything similar to the performance against London and we will get battered.

We looked a bag of nerves on Saturday, hopefully being big underdogs against Salford will reduce the pressure on the team.

Certainly a lot of improvement needed but I have seen enough from our side this season to know we are capable of making those improvements.

From what I've seen of Salford they will be too good for us, their No. 6, Robert Lui has always stood out for me.

Loud and proud Leythers...

When we beat Salford in the CC last season, they were [size=1504th[/size in Sooper Dooper League! Mind you, they did have half a team out injured, and many of the rest got injured during the game!

Oh, and we've now signed most of those players, and they've replaced them with some good uns!

Salford for me, I'm afraid - I hope we can stay within a reasonable score of them though and set ourselves up for the intensity of the rest of the competition.

We've sold just over half our allocation of 800 so I would expect just over 1000. Our attendances at home really do puzzle me sometimes... Conspiracy.

Because our entire fan base consists of mostly the Salford lad's club and a few drunken nutters who we have to pay to get them in.

Salford fans have bought over 500 already so should see 1000 away fans for the first time this season, sales at our end are very strong also so will be a great atmosphere

Salford's away following has always been excellent, compared to their home attendances (against us).

They'll easily be 1,000+ of us there on Saturday. Most people don't pre-purchase ticket and just pay on the day.

Odd that over 50% of our last reported home attendance will be in the away end...

Not really, we took 150% our average gate to Wire last year. Your floaters will have been saving for this week, easier to get to and a better craic
