Similar marketing assistance would be a start. Let's not forget that, even with a crowd like tonight, I'm sure the gate receipts won't be too dis-similar to your average Leigh RL game.

Top price was £4 for adults and tons of freebies by all accounts so I've no doubt at all that we'd provide gate receipts at least on a par with t'Roverrrs, which begs the question as to why, in my view, t'Roverrrs seem to get preferential treatment and a greater degree of assistance from the powers that be?

It also highlights how many clowns would pay (debatable) to watch a towns reserves who are 30+ miles and no historical links to or town.

This is a good point, not many paid from what I can gather. If only the LSV had been as helpful to Leigh Genesis too eh and as you say pushed the other games the same.

Long since accepted that our face didn't fit with the place and, to be quite honest, rather happy with how things are turning out up at Crilly. I think LGFC's situation with the LSV should certainly be taken as a warning from Leigh RL's point of view though and I see no reason whatsoever why Leigh RL and t'Roverrrs can't be offered at least a level pegging in terms of advertising 'spend'.

I suspect you've answered your own point as they were playing United tonight, so I would imagine that was the attraction for the majority of the crowd.

I did n`t know the opposition but now it makes sense for BR to play at the LSV , given the locality of the LSV to at least 6 or 7 other Premiership sides.

I believe 3,000 kids tickets were given away, with about 2,400ish sold, then 3 Turnstiles were made into Cash turnstiles.
I am lead to believe that, BB pay a set fee, and the LSV can then do what they wish with any tickets, so as you can see, its a different Beast altogether in reference to them marketing the Centurions.

Was great to see LSV so full even though the football wasnt great. They gave around 1,500 free tickets too schools so more parents went. Ashame out rugby club cant have the same ambition trying to get people through the gates. We should of been doing that for the rugby and people would have 10 times the excitment if they went watchin the leythers!!

Having made the trip loads of times to Blackburn it's actually nearer than people initially think, Ewood Park to LSV is approx 20 miles, and its nearer to Blackburn than Christie Park Morecambe, were they use to play, plus they have quite a few players/coaches who live nearer to Leigh/Manchester than Morecambe.

Why single out CLOWNS?

Be interesting to know how many Leythers turned up to watch the Reds and how can we make them turn up for the Rugby ? .

So if a person chooses to go and watch their football teams reserves play in their own town, that makes them a clown does it?

I would have gone but I play football myself on a monday neet, but I would have loved to watch Man u reserves at LSV and I am certainly lacking in big oversized shoes and a funny nose

How does that constitute free, when it was only Kids tickets that were given away for free, and more paid than what got in for free...?

My daughter and lad went last night with freebies they had picked up from somewere,they were home early said it was boring and blackburn were winning 2-1 so I don't know what time utd equalised.

Football is god to the masses,so I suppose the chance to watch it brings in the crowds
