| Quote ="The Angry Pirate"I think this is what most non-fans don't get about F1.....
Look, Hamilton may be a good driver, but ultimately the fact he is in the best car is the major factor, so why all the glory for Swiss Lewis? (or whoever happens to win).
Let's be honest, however good Swiss Lewis is, if me and him had a race, and he was in a Ford Fiesta, and I was in a Porsche, I reckon I'd whoop his candyass, which would make me World Champ??..
'"
what utter toss. put most drivers in that car and they would do well yes, but the input from the driver is crucial, can't be doing with all this Hamilton hating. Never in happy are we. Well done Lewis, future legend.

Fine, no problem, but some of us love it & tonight we have a British champ to celebrate. I for one think F1 is getting better & better but then again I have some close links to the Ferrari team and cant wait until they ring from Marrenello on Tuesday when they get back & when they recover so I can gloat

| TBH I thought he'd blown it going into the final lap. It looked like Glock was pulling away after he overtook him. But going into the final corner onto the back straight I couldn't believe what I was seeing. A fantastic race.
BTW a little useless fact, its ironic that the last F1 season the BBC broadcast saw Damon Hill win the title in 1996. ITV have never seen a British title winner until today, their last race to be broadcast.

Bring on BBC HD. Think James Allan & Martin Brundle should do a swap as well, both excellent.

| The other thing that has been missed is that glock was driving a car with a Ferari team engine and also that the team Principle is Gerhard Berger an ex-ferari driver.
I think you have more chance of platting snot than glock being told to slow down.

Nobody has said that Gock didn`t switch to intermediates, i certainly didn`t anyway. If you bothered to read a thread in full you would see the points that were being made, Hamilton should never have got himself into the position he did was my main point, he should have comfortably have been able to get 3rd spot without having to take any risks at all. Both him and his team almost lost the world title when given the car they had and the back up it should never have got to that point.

What exactly is your gripe with the first British F1 champion for 12 years, who was driving the second best car all year?
Any excuse for a moan, that's all it is. Congratulate the man and drop it

| I love Moto GP and go the TT's quite often but just can't get into F1 at all. I'm not knocking Lewis at all who has( by all accounts) performed superbly all year, it's the format that does my head in. They should be allowed one pit stop each and that's that, having not watched F1 for a couple of years I got caught up in the Hype and gave it a go. All the drama surrounded endless pitstops and where people would end up after them and the 'racing' was secondary to that imo

Rob
Why do you Blame Hamilton for getting into the position he was in...? the team had to bring him in for the change of Tyres once the rain came down...
other wise he would have been the one left wheelspinning on the last turn like Glock (and his team mate Trulli for the conspiracy mongers). If he didnt change tyres yes it would have saved a pit stop but he could quite easily have put it in the wall racing to keep Glock behind him ....
I thought the team were over cautious but they got it right in the end.
What are your thoughts on Seb Loebs record breaking fifth title in the Rally..?
Ive watched Rally not quite as long as F1 but I wouldnt pay a cent to watch the current field of rally drivers.....this is truly a one driver championship
I'm amazed Hirvonen pushed him so close.
3rd in the championship Daniel Sordo...FFS he'd struggle to drive through bridge foot ...
Mcrae Makkinen Sainz Burns Kankkunen all world champs and racing each other seems like a lifetime ago....

| Luckiest win ever but he deserved some after that shambles when he had those winning 12 points taken from him earlier in the season.
There is talk of him getting a knighthood now and that is just plain silly. If so people like Calzaghe, Phil Taylor and Carl Fogerty should also all get one.

It should be Sir Phil Taylor. Has anyone dominated their sport for as long as he has (and yes I said sport)?

Si, Hamilton has stated himself how much he enjoys driving in the wet and the trickier conditions the better, that was similar to Schumacher. In this race Hamilton just had to finish 5th to claim the world title and he was one corner away from blowing it for the 2nd year running. For someone who likes the tricky conditions so much he and his team made a right horlicks of the race as it should never have got to the stage where he was one corner away from losing the world title, he should have been in a much stronger position throughout the race given the car he drives which is also far more suited to the wet than the Ferrari.
Would Schumacher have have been in that same position with just 1 corner to go ? Hamilton and his team were within a whisker of blowing the world title and it should never have got anywhere near to that point. Yes a team brings a driver in for tyre changes etc but its the driver who makes the call as to when over the radio ( not on about the late forced changes ) as he has the best knowledge of how the track is, its the driver as well who has the final say on how he drives the race as once he leaves the starting grid its in his own hands and most drivers ignore a lot of what comes over the radio just like McRae did with Dave Richards on a few occasions at Subaru.
Quote ="the flying biscuit"What are your thoughts on Seb Loebs record breaking fifth title in the Rally..?'"
As for Seb Loeb, he is in a league of his own as he is the best driver since Makinen. Also the Citroen is in a league of its own, the reason Subaru are struggling at the min is they have built the new car towards the new regulations that are coming out soon where as Ford and Citroen are running their cars under the current, more lenient regs.
Personally i prefer the days where events like the Network Q RAC rally were 5 day events and run partly through the night, this current version of rallying is just a 3 day sprint aimed at tv and getting spectators into a tighter area where they may travel to more than one stage and spend more money etc.

I dissagree. That would have meant risking over-taking people which could have landed him in bother especially since one of those drivers he needed to over-take was t'other Ferrari driver. "whoops, Ive accidentally run you off the road Lewis...silly me"
