Its called being a rugby league player, I expect them to have some aggression, would be a boring game otherwise. I don't understand the abuse he is getting, he was putting himself about with big legal shots. He wasn't pulling hair, and doing high tackles like the rest of Wigans powder puff pack.

It will be an interesting game when Wigan get their 6-7 first teamers back, could well be us versus them in the GF.

Why do commentators describe Sam Tomkins as being missing from the Wigan line up ? He's not played for the Pies for some seasons now. Brian Bevan was also missing from the Wire line up

The hit that Clubb put in on Lineham looked fine to me – timing was perfect, no shoulder involved and it was the sort of hit we would have been raving about if one of our forwards had done it to a Wigan player. My problem is that it was very similar to the Atkins hit on Wilkin a couple of weeks ago which was penalised and put on report – neither were penalties and inconsistency of decision making is the key issue for me.

We also have a long injury list like Wigan but I think the main difference was captured by Tony Smith when he said we had still managed to retain the majority of our first choice 17 on the pitch. I suspect out of the 10 players we have out injured at the moment, it would be Sandow, Dwyer, Dodds and Harrison (remember him?) who would probably make the first choice 17. That is fewer than Wigan are missing from the first choice 17. Nevertheless, there were some really top notch performances last night across the park irrespective of the quality of the opposition.

I love the fact Penny has almost become part of the leadership group, able to switch positions, get involved in key plays in defence and attack and he reads the game generally so well. Gidley is an unbelievable signing, a true leader and as important to us as Sinfield was to Leeds which is saying something. Enjoyed Julien’s performance, Clark’s ferocious defence and explosive attack and the way Westerman is really developing some confidence and increasing his influence as a ball player. Sims was excellent last night and an honourable mention to the back row who did 80 minutes again.

Imagine when we get the ebst player in the league back in our team.

Where have I said there shouldn't be aggression? I didn't like the hit on Lineham and several times he resorted to dirty tactics like pushing players face down when getting up from the tackle, Clark took great exception to this. I agree with you how good a game it will be when both teams fully fit.

It was always the case that Wigan would tire quickly and as a result would lay on, hit higher and struggle to get back onside. Sadly the game was reffed by a bell end who let them lay on, hit high and be offside.

We did a fantastic job 13 v 14.

Also impressive was the couple of time we caught the ball behind our line and deliberately took the ball dead. Why struggle to make yards in your own 10 when you have the confidence to drop out and hit them again further up the field & get the mistake. We enjoyed smashing the s that much we wanted to do it some more.

What was wrong with the hit on lineham? Wasn't high, and used his arms... textbook big hit. A lot worse goes on than pushing players heads in the dirt, Sims does it constantly. Its not going to do much arm compared to twisting arms, legs etc.

the problem was the shoulder to the face, it was the morley style low arm shoulder charge, where you make it look like a tackle but your throwing your shoulder in as point of contact.

See the high tackle later on from the side on clarke, which was then adjudged as a knock on incorrectly.

He's the worst case scenario of drinking Wane's Kool-aid and going out and being hyper aggressive which is actually borderline reckless.

I can't see what was wrong with the hit on Lineham. I remember Morley's hit on Harrison Hansen in the final minute of the home game vs Wigan in 2010. No complaints from Warrington fans then. It's a lot of the attraction of Rugby League.

If it was roles reversed the South stand would have been in rapture at the aggressive defence.

the rules have changed since that Morley hit..if he did that now it would be a pen.

The Lineham injury was due to a head clash I'm sure I saw the blood bin card held up, a good tackle just within the limit only for the head clash he would probably have got up and played the ball.

What was the injury situation from last night? I had to put up with watching with no commentary in a bar in Lanzarote & without any rain & snow. Still, i enjoyed the game & i´m sure my sacrifice has been worth it.

for us, atkins has fractured a finger, did it quite early on in the game then was taken off with about 10 left, i think, lineham was taken to hospital with his head injury so he'll be a doubt and evans had multiple knocks last night, couple of face and head and he thought his shoulder had popped again.

Incidentally, anyone notice we had about a 3 players with blood coming out of face injuries within the first twenty minutes or so yesterday, gids evans and russell, possibly lineham as well.

I didn't see Brian Bevan play other than in a testimonial, but understand he looked like he was held together by sticking plaster and looked much older than his years. Rhys Evans has obviously decided to "rock that look". But fair play a magnificently brave and effective performance.

Not sure how but the switching of Penny and Russell worked. Penny, and even his critics will agree, oozes energy and never stops talking. That's what I'd want from a fullback, directing the defence but also energising them.

Amazing really, in days gone by when the ball went near him you'd almost wince and expect a fumble, but he was excellent in difficult conditions last night. He has locked himself in the team, contributing in attack, but more in defence... Who'd have thought it!

Watched the match back when I got in and I'm sure I remember him being there before the game at least. Wasn't he waffling on about Salford having a 50/50 chance of making the super eights before their points deduction but now, if they win this weekend, they'll have a 50/50 chance of making the super eights!

Russell isn't brilliant under the high ball at the moment. As with lots of things its confidence. The interchange of positions between him and Russell is a real top class move. Kev is playing really well at the moment in both attack and defence. Long may it continue.
