But, like I said, I suspect wire will come good - though hopefully not quite good enough - when it matters.

Leeds were far more polished and clinical when needed. A bit like the GF to be honest. Childs display was shocking though. Any ball out in the tackle from a Wire player (knock one) Leeds (stripped). Should stick to touch judging.

I imagine we had similar threads to this at the same point last year when we were only one win better off. Last year didn't turn out too badly.

Haven't done the sums but I'm pretty sure our points collected this year from the same games last year is about the same. That's not the say this trend will continue but it probably does mean that it's a bit early to write the team off just yet.

I though Child was poor but that's just because he's not very good. That's not his fault but it would be helpful if he found something better to do with his time. However he was not the deciding factor in the game. Referee's tend not to be. The two biggest factors were Leeds' performance and our performance. Theirs was much better than ours so they won.

We're not playing very well at the moment. I think we'll get better and I'm still hopeful of a good season.

To be honest, the Maguire Watkins and McShane tries were down to some of the worst defending I've ever seen by a Tony Smith side. Not taking anything away from Leeds' win because you were much the better side but we gifted you 18 points.

Another predictably poor performance.. Just like the saints game... amazingly the bookmakers still think we are the league side of 2 years ago. Easy money betting on Leeds last night.

We are certainly playing poorly atm. I was going to say that the loss of Monas as a key player was a critical factor, but last year he had knee problems and was nowhere near his best. We have lost Briers this year, but we are going to lose him permanently in the near future anyway. Hodgson is slower, and is making more mistakes. Despite the fact that he has played a lot of games, he could be approaching the end as well. And finally there is Morley, he is missed as he is still one of our best forwards, and provides leadership. But he is also close to the exit.

So we have 'lost' or are close to losing 4 key players in the team. These three / four provide the creative plays that lead to tries, and they provide leadership (as a team, we look like a 'headless chicken' at times). Add to this the loss of confidence due to the manner in which we are playing, (not simply the defeats) and I think you can account for a lot of the problems.

We are not quite at the half way point yet, and the return of Briers and Morley will certainly provide a significant boost to the second half of the year, but at the moment I am starting to question the wisdom of retaining some of our ageing stars quite this long. Hopefully, the likes of Currie, 2 x Evans and Dwyer will come through this year and become regular 1st team players next year. But that will still need a gap to be filled. We need some top class replacements.

I was high up in the East stand so had a good overview and we looked like we could have been passed round almost at will, our shape didn't look good at all.

Plus points, J.Mon, Ratchford (except his kicking) Ben Currie and Grix.

Frustrating game, something isn't quite right and i won't have it that it's down to either Moz or Briers not being there.

To me its looks like discontent in the camp..the team spirit just didn't seem to be there this year..big shout for Grix though he was our one shining light..Higham, Joel and young Currie all at least looked like they were trying..

We are missing the player who controls our attack and the player who leads our defensive line. I am just looking forward to when we get them back on the pitch.

Why did Hodgson attempt to catch that ball in goal, it would have gone out, just leave it man, they scored of that set.

We look for the offload when it's not always on, sometimes the best option is to take the tackle.

Westwood is out of sorts this season.
Atkins is dreadful, passes when he shouldn't and doesn't when he should, his defending his dire and partly the reason Riley is made to look as bad as he has been.

Future captain material is definitely Ratchford, he's confident and has a swagger about him BUT his kicking needs to improve, it wasn't smart kicking at times and rushed.

Ben Currie's confidence is growing with every game and i'm personally really chuffed for the lad.

All that plus a statement from "her in doors", Why do our players look fat? Did me for a minute or two but then looking at some of our lot you can see that they are carrying more timber than last year. Is this a ploy to give more cushioning or are they a little on the porky side?

The additional off-loads and passes that are 'not on' come about due to players trying to make up for their poor play / form. They are over-compensating. Similarly gaps can appear as the next man in the defensive line comes in to help his neighbour make a tackle (because he is not confident he will make the tackle). Normally this is most evident on the wings as it leaves the door open to the winger. When players do find space or a gap, they rush the decision and make a poor one etc etc. So for me, these are all symptoms of the poor form and lack of confidence. But the 'disease', ie the main cause that has to be addressed is the need for 4 very high quality players around which we can re-build a good team again. The return of Briers and Morley will only be a 'stop gap' for this season.

Your season seems to be mirroring ours in 2011, with Mcguire and Peacock injured they are almost exactly like Briers and Morley being injured for you! They should be a big lift for you, as they were for us. But, wether any team is able to replicate what we did from fifth remains to be seen. Forget the final positioning doesn't matter argument, we were an exception not the rule.

Twice Atkins had open field to the try line in front of him and twice he hesitated as soon as he got the ball in hand.

as Ian says, match for match we are very similar to last year. Last year we drew with Hull; this year with Wigan. Last year we lost at Salford; this year we lost at Widnes. We lost away at Hull KR and Leeds last year as well as at home to St H. I agree we don't look good right now but lots of time to get into form and win the double.

I've read some tosh in my time but this tops the lot.

Don't panic, we were e last season until Catalans away in the cup. Having said that I'd say top four is realistically where we'll finish, not that league position actually matters.

shocking first half from wire,very *dubious* ( joke )reffing descions to say the least! ( are forward passes and crossing and obstruction non penalties this season? ) plus sloppy defending costing us a least two tries,add that to a very poor kicking game ,and you would have thought wire would have been well beaten,scorewise,yet wire were beaten by only a try and goal?i rem last season around this time when ppl were asking if wire were losing the plot etc etc ,--it still early days! just move on to the nxt game ---keep the faith---
