| Quote ="BogBrushHead"Back on topic:
Those who bought tickets from RFL last year; where did you end up seated? My understanding was that the club got the pre-printed WU/WL blocks behind the sticks so you could only buy those from the ground when they went on sale on the Sunday. Weren't the RFL ones only for the upper tier or North/South stands?
edit: Just checked RFL site for this year and the WL101-106 & WU201-208 blocks are not available ...... the family area is, but only in the corner bit.'"
I got mine about an hour after the Saints game from the RF last year, my mate rang up, we were sat on the left of the sticks near the corner of the Strettford end, all wire around, great seats with no hassle. Same happened in 2012 for the CC final, them seats were the best we've had, just below club Wembley, right behind the sticks.
We've done this a few times, never been disappointed by our seats!! We've always paid the £40ish bracket tickets
IF we win Thursday, I have no hesitation with getting on the phone again, and getting them sorted early doors.

Agree with this. The atmosphere is more intense than a CC final for some reason. Maybe time of year, under the floodlights. I don't know. Id have no qualms taking my 6 year old Wembley, but have refused to take him OT this year (should we get there), due to the trouble I saw last year.
Loads of idiots around, both Wire and Leeds fans. Unfortunately this is fuelled by people that can handle their ale. Personally I went out at 11am, and had a top laugh, despite the result. Shame the minority have to spoil it.
I think both ends should be sorely allocated to the finalist, then unsold tickets can go back to the RFL. Last year, there were a group of Leeds fans slap bang in the middle of the Strettford end....was always going to cause issues with idiots biting when they here a cheer for a Leeds try etc..... They should have an allocation for each end which can only be taken by the fans of that particular club (which would screw me over as I get mine direct from RFL as soon as we win a semi, but so be it).

I agree. I thought the whole spectacle and occasion was a total let down, regardless of the result. Hyped up by Sky. Gutted we didn't get to Wembley, but this is no substitute.

| Getting to O/T last season was the highlight of my 30 years of watching the Wire.
But I was uneasy at the large number of 'fans ' from both sides who were blotto and open to a bit of 'higher end banter'. The United stewards were useless (as were the Wembley ones last season) & stood by as these drunken morons reduced the enjoyment of all those around them,.

Disagree on this one, I know Leeds fans who say this but the other way round. The Grand Final as a concept since it returned has been a real success story- the first final attracted 43,000, last year we had just over 70,000. There are posters around Manchester and it is a great day for the sport, 100 times better than the season ending on a Sunday night in Huddersfield.

| Agree with Dropkick and others. There were pockets of bellends all over the ground last year trying to get a rise, and it made a grim night even grimmer.

The stewards were too busy making sure you didn't take any drinks or food into the stadium to deal with crowd issues .... it didn't take a genius to work out the idiots in WU 205, (I was in WU206) were not Rhinos fans and were there simply to cause trouble, yet the stewards refused to move them until after it was too late. I believe these are 'hospitality' seats so explains how these idiots got hold of them.
Unfortunately, I also had to step between two Wire fans sat in the row behind me who, worse for a few beers, decided the best way to end the day was to knock seven bells out of each other ...... was brewing for about 10 minutes before they kicked off, and only took about 10 seconds to calm them down. At the end of which I looked at a nearby steward and said "Thanks for the help" ... he just laughed and toddled off down the steps.

| The atmosphere inside and outside was hardly 'carnival'.
Mind we wouldn't miss it for the world and I am desperate to get there and win it so we can bury this 'always our year' garbage.

| There were a group of bellends sat in front of us that wouldn't budge when the true ticket holders turned up. After a bit of a slanging match, they dispersed somewhere further up the stand.
Glad really because they were all wasted, looked high on something, and wouldn't STFU.

| this is strange, it really is, i've got trollied, nicely trollied every time we've been to wembley, and still been able to watch the game, remember it, enjoy it and not be anti social.
Likewise, last year pre GF, i had a cracking (almost) all dayer round manchester in the lead up to the game, turned up, watched and was able to remember the game and didn't ruin anyone elses day.
Who are these bellends that can't hold their booze.

It wasn't carnival because there was so much tension. The reason for that is that we are desperate to win it - as you rightly say - and that in itself proves that it isn't some Sky invented end of season tin pot affair that some try and pretend it is. If it was those people wouldn't bother going if they dislike it so much, but I bet they'll be there next week if we win tomorrow.
If we do get there next week then it won't be a carnival atmosphere then either for the same reason - pure tension and desperation to win. If we do win though, our end, our concourse, outside the ground, and the centres of both Manchester and Warrington, will feel like one hell of a carnival afterwards.
I want this far more than anything else I've seen Wire win, and I won't be able to enjoy it until we've actually won it. The taking part is NOT what counts here - which to a degree was the case at the 2009 Challenge Cup Final when both ourselves and Huddersfield were just delighted to be at Wembley. This time (and the last two play off series) the winning is the only thing that matters. It's the big one.

That's the fella - there with his family presumably because Jeremy Kyle weren't filming that day.
Were they not escorted out during the second half? They weren't there at the final whistle as I looked over half expecting it to kick off.
They were at the Etihad on the Sunday this year as well and appeared to be well known to, but not popular with, other Leeds supporters.

| As a Leeds fan i have sat in roughly the same area behind the posts in the same end for the last 4 of our wins. The three against Saints i don't recall any kind of bother at all and the atmosphere was friendly and decent just as you would imagine in your 'Home' end.
However, last year there did seem to be pockets of trouble all throughout our end, some right near where i was sitting, just as i was taking my seat before KO. between a few of Wire and Wigan fans i believe who had obviously bought tickets prematurely! i also recall a few more scuffles breaking out during the play.
Its not nice and shouldn't happen at any game.People who go to sit in the opposite end to wind up and cause trouble are sad people and not needed in our sport IMO.Should both our clubs manage to contest the final again this year lets hope for a much friendlier atmosphere

| Most of you hate the Grand Final because you've yet to win it. You're not kidding anybody.
The reason the atmosphere is tensor than the Challenge Cup is because it means so much more to actually win it.

Exactly.
As for there being more trouble last year than in the past, I can only think the ban on drinking at your seat led to people trying to neck as much as possible in a short space of time.
Like Mr Cat I got to Manchester in the morning and had plenty to drink enjoying the atmosphere in the pubs, the tension/excitement when we got there was something else so obviously the agony afterwards was a killer.
Shame that people can't handle their drink, but that is the case when you go to any major public event.
