| I said the other day to my dad that George King seems to have developed some good impact this season. He seems to be moving a lot faster and hitting a lot harder then I've seen before. Him, Jullien and savelio are brightening up the pack for me at the moment. I love sims but he doesn't have the impact that a prop needs, still wouldn't leave him out the side though puts his all in to each game game. Get Crosby back once he is ready and the pack will be a lot better still.

Sims is a 2nd row forward. Fact.

All those games he played for the Cowboys in the front row; clueless NRL coaches.

| So when I thought that we were having to cope with only 2 front line props last season we actually only had 1 plus a second rower? Makes last seasons achievements (Failures) even more remarkable.

If Sims played at second row the opposition would run rings around him.
Not a fact. Just my opinion.

Yes because he never played 2nd row in the NRL at all did he?
Just look at how effective he is/was when he ends up on the edge of the field like Vs Les cats at the start of the season. His offload game which is clearly encouraged would be far more deadly in the second row where he'll have an option to offload to a centre, a half, a hooker or winger.
Just because he played there for NQ doesn't mean he couldn't do a good job in SL in the back row.

| Sims is a pretty decent passer of the ball & is solid in defence & i too think he would be better as a ball playing second rower than trying to break through the line as a prop which he clearly isn't big enough to do.

He has the right height and build for the second row too. He isn't going to charge in and bust a tackle at prop. we know that. as a 2nd row hitting a line with a bit of space to work in he could be far more effective.

Wouldn't hurt to give him 15 minutes. start with Hughes on the bench. That might give jack a gentle kick up the . He's way off from the player he was last season.
Understandable with his best mate being Dom but if his head isn't in the right place he shouldn't be playing.

He's one of our most mobile Props.... and why would he need bags of pace to make a decent backrower?

| Last year I'd agree but Sims has upped his game at prop and he's okay. He has a role to play and whilst not braking down doors he's at least knocking hard on them and running off!
Whilst I wouldn't automatically extend his contract, he wants to remain a Wire and that will argue in his favour for next season.
See, I'm not a Sims basher, all I want to see is commitment, passion and improvement. He fits the slot.

| Sims plays the same here as he did in the NRL so i'm not sure really what people expect from him? He takes the ball up hard, defends hard and offloads the ball which creates space for our speedier players. He's never been a prop to smash through tackles and send players sprawling, he's just a very hard working consistent prop who i'm happy with. I think people who expect more from him have never really seen him play before us and just expected a wrecking machine. He's been brought over to do a certain job and he does it well.

This ^^^
We need A Wrecking ball that can come on and cause a bit of mayhem for 15-20min. Cooper n Crosby don't give us that again both steady solid props but neither know for their barnstorming runs and tackle busts. But non the less it should still be more than capable of doing the job
If sims gets an extension with a reduced wages would not be unhappy his enthusiasm is fresh may go ott on occasion but if the rest of the team can show close to the same then we would be hard to beat

Pretty sure Philbin showed on Friday that by running hard with heart and desire you will give yourself, though more importantly your team, opportunities to score.

A text, out of context, is a pretext. Do I take it you don't think skill played any part in Philbin break, or rugby awareness, or fitness. You obviously accept that "running hard" is required, how about pace?
If all that was needed was "heart and desire" I suspect most who Post on this forum would qualify to play. We clearly all feel passionately about the Wire and if given the opportunity to wear the shirt in a competitive match I would definitely play with heart and desire, and would be absolutely mullered the first time I got the ball...as no doubt would you playing with even greater levels of heart and desire.

| i have neither the heart, nor the desire to run as fast as i can into a set of super league players.
Credit to Philbin though, it was a marvelous moment and one that will be talked about for years... True we didn't score and we lost.. But that doesn't really matter when it comes to iconic moments.
Back on topic. Very happy with Jullien. He is a bit of a throw back defensively, and he is always very committed. He would have truly excelled in the day of the shoulder charge.

| Third time this season Sims finds himself by accident in the 2nd rowers position and for the third time he's put someone in.

| I think George King was running hardest for us last night, he's starting to look really promising now. I. Must admit I never thought he'd make it when he first came in, then I thought he'd always be a good back up as 5th choice prop but I think I was wrong. If he carries on developing I think he will be a very good player for us.

I think he's been pretty decent this season and didn't end last season too badly either. He looks to be growing into his role as a regular in the 17 and at that level I would guess that prop is as much about mental attitude in addition to growing into the role physically?
