| I posted on here a couple of weeks ago that you had signed Wheeler. It'll be announced in due course.

| When TS has said "we are done", have you ever thought that could mean we have still made new signings, and are now done, but haven't announced them yet?

| Today's announced signing of Travis Burns to Saints may add weight to the moving of Gary Wheeler to new pastures!

Would rather we went for Burns than Wheeler, I think if we do sign Wheeler the only people it will benefit are the club physios and doctors!

| Maybe promoting from within is the way we should be going?
Instead of always signing some Aussie with more yesterdays than tomorrows just so he can top up his pension fund on a holiday here why not give some young Warrington lads a chance its what Wigan or Leeds would do.
We have been hearing for years about how the future's bright with all our Academy lads but it never seems to materialise as we follow the same old failed policies?
Lets give it a chance for once. Believe in future generations and vote YES for Warrington.

| I am struggling to understand this Wheeler (possible) signing. He is like Ratchford but only not as good and always injured.

| I honestly don't know why we would go for Wheeler given the current squad.

| Imo Saints are a very good side with Wheeler in but he is made of bone China.

| If Wheeler does come, then it's down to our medical team to assess him. What's important is his fitness status going forward, not what has happened to him in the past.
I remember a lot of concern when we signed Nick Fozzard for 2002, after he had had two broken arms, various operations and had hardly played since 1999. The verdict was "great prop prospect but made of biscuit". That was a good signing and he went on to have a very good career.
Another example was Simon Grix a few years back. His first few seasons with us he had injury after injury and I remember talk on here saying that we should probably tear up his contract, yes we had heard he was highly rated but if he was never fit then a waste of salary cap. The club stood by him and he proved himself a class act in the end.
I think with Wheeler, it's a gamble signing. It's the type of signing where someone like Hull KR, Castleford or Wakefield would take him on and if he stayed fit he would do very well, then you can bet if we were struggling for leadership at halfback next year people on here would be saying why weren't we alert when Wheeler was available, he would have been the perfect solution. Similar to how last year nobody was campaigning for us to sign Liam Finn.

| The thing with Wheeler is he picks up a knock which should take 2/3 weeks , but his general conditioning seems to drop drastically so it turns in to longer , plus he's off the pace when he does return.
You never know tho , some of us Saints fans have serious doubts about the back room staff at LP. There was the rumours of Eastmond's mis-diagnosis which took Bath 12 months to put right , then there's the our year on year injury crisis.
A change of scenery / injury prevention may be what Wheeler needs - certainly has ability when he is something like fit

| Wheeler gives us good cover/depth for the centres and half-back spots for next year. Obviously his injury record is the associated risk but when fit he always seems to get selected by Saints so obviously no mug.
I'd imagine he will be coming into the club on a salary reflecting a player probably outside of the first 17.

Centres - Ratch, Bridge, Atkins, Monas, Evans, Grix and that's without lookingat the U19's
Halves - GOB, Myler, Ratch, Bridge
I'd have thought we have enough cover there (not actually compared our squad in detail to others though)
