The lieing on was a joke though, was killing the game. When they had 3 men in the tackle i did not mind but when there was only 2 men in and they still took ages to get away it was rather annoying

| Hull are a decent side but the best team won tonight. Hull FC can have no complaints. I think we look in sparkling form in attack even without Briers.

| You certainly missed Briers and Solomona would have damaged them with his offloads but considering you weren't at full strength and players wanting to avoid injury for next week's big one i think the "risk" of deliberately playing an under strength team may still come back to bite you if Saints get a couple of scores.

| Back to the original point, you wouldn't normally associate Hull with playing a 'slow' game but that's the way they wanted it last night. Once we realised what the ref was going to accept, we started to do the same. For all his issues, Ganson would not have allowed that last night.

We had Hall's try ruled out (correctly so, by letter of law) but Myler wouldn't have got to tackle. Then you had Westwood try allowed even though it was a definite double movement!!
ATEOTD it was a much closer game than the scoreline suggested. Either team couldve won tonight!!'"
Myler would have been in direct line with Hall and Westwood's momentum hadn't stopped. Next.

Thought westwood was lucky to get away with it tbh.
Yes he still probably would have slid over, BUT he promoted the ball after the ball carrying arm hit the ground.
could easily have gone the other way, if that was against wire i'd be shouting double movement.
Though the ref was dire in the first half tho

Hull are very limited and spent the whole game trying to contain what we do, using various techniques and which was going to inevitably end up with the officials patience being severely tested. We spent the whole game waiting for the next opportunity to apply our next free flowing move.
Open rugby was the winner last night. (In the end)

| i agree that the play the ball last night was very slow but it wasnt anything that we did wrong the players went by the refs calls.and before i get comments on like sour grapes whatever, wire deserved the win last night there were certainingly some decisions that were 50 50 and could of gone either way for example the craig hall try, westwoods double movement crucial parts in the game, but we badly missed longy for his orginisation as we dint have a clue but our players showed a bit passion and comitment so most fans were quite happy. but i have to agree about the moaning yeh every team does it but every play the ball or every flat ball just constant moaning and screaming it was quite boring really, we did nothing diffrent to what wire was doing or anyother team does throughout the season

| What tactics should we employ then? You remove 5 of your 7 back line and have 4 forwards on the bench, it's fairly obvious what are tactics were gonna use. Once possesion went the other way in the 2nd half, your class players came to the fore. I knew monaghan would run it on the last but he had the class to do it, we didn't have someone on the park capable. Washbrook at 6 for us, wouldn't get in most div 1 teams. Different with Horne/Long/Whiting as pivots.

I thought you lot were quite crisp in the first half and had a game plan that seemed to be working. I was a little worried we might lose. I thought after Tickle went off your lads tired quickly and this season you only need to give our lads half a chance. The score line flattered us. But then I guess Wembley was in the back of our minds no matter how much you coach to play for the 80 mins infront of you.
To the OP - we 'complained' as this season has seen some excellent swift rugby for all the SL teams and Smith allowed you guys to slow the play of the ball dramatically. A game plan that was working I suppose. Of course in the crowd, you are right, you can't hear the 'held' and Smith was indeed slow in calling it. So I guess we were complaining at the ref not the Hull players as such. Still in the end this 'slower' pace worked to our advantage - plenty left in the tank when you lot tired.

Before I read this post i was truly going to start a post about how in the first half we DIDN'T question any of the bad decisions that went against us and if Lee Briers would have been on the field he would have tried to boss the Ref more than Mozza did.

| anyone else disgusted with how smith dismissed and waved monas away after the lauki try? Where's the respect there?
i notice he didn't do the same to fitzgibbon in the opposite corner when he did the same a minute or two later.

Ever thought that the "moaning" as you put it was more to do with how long it was taking the ref to shout "move". Our players started to push it when they saw how much time the ref was giving. I think everybody would prefer it for the ref to shift players immediately the tackle is made and improve the speed of the game.

I disagree - although it did change the game to a degree I never felt that we would lose the game - you hadn't got out of your half for the first 10 minutes of the half prior to Tickle being sin-binned. I doubt that you could have withstood the pressure even with 13.

| seriously, we'd shifted up a few gears just before that and was getting a roll on, we would've scored whether tickle was on the field or not.

| The biggest "moan" of the night came when the touch judge gave a knock on against Westwood in the lead up to the Lauaki try. At full speed there was no way it was a knock on and looking at the replay in super slow mo, i still don't believe it was a knock on, although the view of the ball and Westwood's hand is blocked from the camera by his body.
Our fans are the worst in the world though, we're the only ones who question a decision based on our own perception of the event at full speed from at least 20 metres away.
