Unless you sign someone on more than the quoted figure, it would be madness not to name him as a marquee player, surely?

| Next season will be very interesting, if Sandow isn't the Marquee but lets say, I don't know, Cronk is then I can already see all the other supporters on this site now saying "Warrington must be well over the cap" etc.

| Why? The two of them would add up to $350k
That leaves with $1.3m.
I would guess we haven't been running too much over that this season.

Remember that you have the rest of the team to pay too, though! I can't imagine Clark, Ratchford, Atkins, Sims and Westwood earn peanuts.

| Sandow signing but not the marquee with Chase partnership and Harrison leaving- WOW! Fascinating stuff. I don't think I've ever seen anything as radical as this at an sl club (bar London and Bradford for different reasons). It certainly sends a message out to the players after the poor 1st half of the season.

Do you see Gidley as an out and out halfback though?
Quote ="BuckleyStreetWire"As I've said before, half backs who can't even get a game in the NRL tear it up in SL. I've seen Dobson run games, Dureau lead Catalans to wins and Walsh start a season like a MoS contender...they were nobodies in Aus.
We've caught up with the Kangaroos in the front row and we have really good full backs and wingers. We are still light years behind them when it comes to the halves, more than light years. Poor NRL halves are elite SL halves, average NRL halves will be MoS contnders here and decent and exciting halves from the NRL will be superstars in this competition.'"
Fair point (though I disagree with the fullbacks part), but I'd say the general view of Walsh seemed to be he was solid in most aspects but didn't run the ball enough and was a poor defender. Not a nobody, just a plodder. Sandow has the potential to be a really good signing, but with his consistency troubles it's maybe not as guaranteed as you guys hope. Him and Chase together as a halfback pairing would be scary and hilarious in equal measure.

| Moleys Monday scoops ,,
Warrington are pushing HARD to get Chris Sandow on their books from Parramatta – this week.
Friday is the deadline for Super League signings for the current season and the Wolves are working night and day with Parramatta trying to secure a release before then.
While he has struggled for consistency in the NRL, the Wolves are convinced Sandow would be a sensation – and a fan favourite – in Super League.

Surely poor management decisions have brought the club to this sorry state of affairs ,the players can't be blamed. It looks to me like our new chief exec or whatever he is called has done some pretty serious ar*e kicking.

We don't need him for Cas & KR and he'll need a family visit vacation before he arrives anyhow.

I think the performances and results against Leeds, Wigan and St Helens; in comparison to other performances would suggest that the players have chosen the matches they have performed in. I think a lot of blame does have to land at the player's doorsteps.

| All seems to be building like a tidal wave for him to join you this week. I think the Eels want shut so you'll come to a compromise. He wants $200,000 in image right payments, Eels won't pay it. They want him to walk and give up his current contract. All essentially comes down to whether Warrington want to pay a 'transfer fee' that will satisfy both parties.
Personally I think Warrington would do well to give him space. He must be a mess mentally after the goings on this season, with criticism every week from club legends, Directors, coaches and teammates. Rumours this week that he was confronted by his teammates and told he wasn't welcome. Pressure for that long on one person can't be good and it's good to see Paul Gallen's defense of him in the press over the weekend. The last thing he needs is to be rushed over here, thrown in at the deep end and have a mare.
Sandow isn't a complete player and there are elements in the criticism from Peter Sterling that do ring true. But he's not solely responsible for the failings of the Eels as a club and the pressure they've put on him has been ridiculous.

| Bringing in Sandow (or anybody else) at this stage of the season would be nice as it gives them a better chance of hitting the ground running next season. Anything we were to achieve in SL this season would simply be an unexpected bonus IMO.

Bingo.
I'm thinking more and more each day that we should just throw everything into the Challenge Cup.
