I heard that on Radio Manchester, yesterday morning...........Pythonesque
It's amazing, the effects of prescription drugs can have on Wiganers. Wane should take a smaller dose.
In fact, I can think of 3 better hookers in the NW of England alone

Coaches always use their media to big up their mates. Wane is talking up one of his players to build up his confidence, nothing wrong with that.
A couple of weeks ago TS was saying Francis Cummins was in the running for Coach of the Year.

Yeah, apparently Wane has been quoted as saying it's by far the best arm break in the world....

| Ive been giving this some thought and im struggling to see how it can be anyone other than Clark or Hill.... Hardaker would have been up there if it hadn't been for his ban, which will probably count against him.
On the subject of Hill, is there a better forward in SL at present?

| Terrific player Chris Hill no doubt about that
If he can still play as well as Peacock when he is the same age and has a similar trophy collection behind him he may also become a legend

Quite, Chris Hill can certainly learn a lot from Peacock, but, hopefully not all of the maestro's latest 'tricks'?

agreed.... but if you compare the 2 at this moment in time, then Hill is obviously far superior.
i think Hill will go on to be one of the greats.

| Other guy to be put forward in terms of consistency and yards gained at every
drive (in the Chris Hill way) is Walmsley of saints. Been really impressed by
him. Both (as well) from the Championship. For me, Chris Hill and Alex Walmsley
have been the most consistent in terms of guaranteed yardage. No matter what-they
always seem to get to the gain line and further no-matter what the defence.

Its a fair point.
Stuart Fielden was up at Hill's level of performance but then he just drifted away.
Moral of the story don't sign for Wigan.

| Walmsley not in the same league as Hill. Good player but miles behind hill in terms of rugby brain and hands. Man of steel should be a current award, giving it to peacock would be like the spoty for giggs! Hill is super leagues finest player at the moment

| I'd say Chris Bridge is SL's best player at the moment.
Take Hill out of Warrington and we'd still win games.
Take Bridge out and we won't.
It's that simple really.
Don't get me wrong, Hilly is terrific but he doesn't run the show, he sets the stage.

| For me MoS is exactly that - someone showing a steel backbone and tireless heart when the going gets tough, and forwards (or at least the best ones) typify that.
Bridge is indeed steering the team around, and doing it very nicely thank-you, but that's courtesy of the platform Hill and his allies are providing through unyielding graft, every game, every season.
Walmsley, incidentally, is a coutry mile behind Hill. He isn't even the best forward at Saints let alone being representative of the attributes of a MoS.

| Walmsley is a fantastic player. But he's still very raw (iirc he started playing late so doesn't have rugby as second nature yet) - come 2/3 years, he could be scarily good if he continues his development, but he's not quite there yet. I'm also not sure he'll ever be able to lead a pack in the same way Amor, Hill, Graham, Peacock etc do.
From a saints perspective Wellens, Walsh and Roby would (at this point) be the ones being put forward for MoS, but that's for different reasons than for why Peacock/ Hill might win it

Top tackler, top 5 for try assists, top 6 for metres - the guy is a human stat machine. Just because he isn't currently grabbing headlines, doesn't mean he's not having a very good season. Works himself to near death every single game

only see sts when on sky and without being argumentive hes average must play out of his skin when the cameras are not there...mickey monas out shone hime at magic weekend tho sts tried to hospitalise him,,didnt see much of him last night either...good player i will agree but not a candidate for m.o.s(atm)

Fair play, though Roby made 50 plus tackles at magic weekend (and everyone was dire, so probably not the best week to judge him on!) - there is a direct correlation between Roby being over worked and saints losing. That said, it depends what your looking for for MoS depends on who I'd suggest from saints, Walsh is our best player if that's how you define it, Wellens is the most influential if that's how you define it, and Roby is an absolute machine whose stats are breathtaking virtually every week!
It'll be interesting to see who steps forward and really leads the charge for MoS this year, I don't think there are any clear cut contenders yet.

I asked a william hills and the rugby league guy was to review to put out a show the next day. but then he went back on that and said they won't take any more bets yet.
Evan Paddy Power won't give a show and they'll take almost any bet.
I think it's because they just don't have a clue at this stage and don't want to get stung with offering silly odds.

| Man of steel means player of the year there is no hidden meaning! Wellens or roby are certainly not it at the minute! I mean present day Wellens??!! Stop it! Super league hasn't got THAT bad yet! On last night's evidence the goons and saints are going to end the season empty handed...lls aside
