Hughes as been slagged off unmercifully on this forum but him being missing as proved one thing. As a team whilst he as been missing we’ve conceded points for fun.
Hughes is a defensive not offensive player. Price as a coach insisted defence came first thus we had a very good defence.
Hughes was captain, his defensive organiser on the field.
Again when Powell came in the majority on here couldn’t understand he was made captain. But that is why.
Whether he stays or not ( I for one hopes he does) we desperately need to sort out our on field defensive organisation.

Swop Bullock for Mulhearn and I agree. If Thewliss was in the squad I'd have kicked Matautia into the long grass as well but that wouldn't have happened either.

So a promising squad (on paper) and our opponents can only name a squad of 19. In past seasons I'd be looking forward to a game like this but given recent games v Salford & Hull KR with similarly decimated squads and Powell's inclination to play his favourites irrespective of form means I look forward to this about as much as a trip to the dentist.

I'm sure if Thewlis, Wrench, Nicholson & Dean ... don't get picked it will be about defence.

It means nowt if Powell thinks he is more likely to get pulled out of position in defence. Mind you I think he'll be picked on right wing.

Part of me, wants Wardle to have a stinker and King to have a blinder on Saturday.

We need to convince Huddersfield to allow us to keep Wardle, and they can have King permanently.

Please do- He’s been shockingly unlucky? With injuries and hasn’t managed to stay on the field for any longer than a few weeks at a time his entire career so far.
But even given that wardle seems to think he should be on the field above someone who’s out performed him hands down this season- sounds very much like the kind of player who’s been killing your club this season. He didn’t seem happy to be given the opportunity to play out of his preferred position.
Wonder if he’s regretting pushing for this swap now.

I just cant be bothered speculating on what team DP will put out, and just hope that whoever takes the field does better than I perceive they will.

Strangely neither King or Cudjoe were selected by Sean Wane, for England recently but Wardle was.

So was Philbin. And Ratch?

even more suggests the reason he wasn’t getting selected for his club was attitude based. Watson seems to have that side of things pretty much sorted at Huddersfield. Didn’t take him long at all and those that didn’t conform didn’t stay.
Powell is trying but not sure he’s going to succeed - the fans aren’t on board.
If you guys don’t win this week I think patience will run out.

I didn’t say I didnt rate him! What I said was that it seems as though the reason for his non selection was more likely to be attitude. Watson has a system where if players perform and have the right attitude they keep their shirt. Wardle was given an opportunity and didn’t particularly take it, he was given a chance in an alternative position- one it seems he didn’t really want to play in.
Attitude has improved in our camp and look at what’s happened to our side! We don’t want anyone spoiling that. You could do with some of the same.

Powell has confirmed Dufty will make his debut on Saturday, Thewlis 'taken out of the firing line'.

You are probably right in this being what Powell will go with, but seeing Minikin selected ahead of Wrench just depresses me.

As does Holmes ahead of Nicholson.

We can all have different opinions to the team selections, it's to be expected but some of the decisions Powell has made this year really calls his judgement into serious question. I've heard more stuff about his 'coaching' or lack of it and wish he'd just leave now.

Very depressing seeing Holmes instead of Nicholson - what the hell has the lad done wrong? (And what has Holmes done right???)
