According to that ever reliable source the internet, Sita Akauola has/is signing for Salford with immediate effect.
This will free up salary space so you can sign Williams.

| Great move for Sita and a great move for us to pursue the signing of GW. Sita has done his best and we have cheered and geered. If its true what we are being led to believe he may well be helping us to win the trophy that most eludes us, so he must go with our collective best wishes and good grace as he is helping the greater cause  |

Whilst I'm all for getting more big names into Super League, this will appear very dubious to a lot of people. How on earth do you fit Ratchford, Inglis, Williams, Widdop, Austin, Clark, Hill, Cooper, King and Currie on the same salary cap?  |

Pretty sure we've been told they're not as good as Wigan and Saints squads, so probably on less money. How do Saints fit all those internationals under the cap too? |

Relax.
I've never said it's unfair. For the record I'd remove the cap completely or massively change it to allow home produced players to stay off cap. We need more stars in the competition and we're not going to do that by catering for the little clubs. |

Isn't a straight swap, 1 in 1 out though is it. We potentially also have: Cap not fully utilised at the start of the year, Inglis coming off cap (otherwise why announce he had been released, clearly something has been ok'd by the RFL / SL on that score), Sita coming off cap, Latu off cap from the start of the year and not replaced. |

Inglis is the big question I guess. If you're allowed to take him off then great, but I was shot down on Twitter for suggesting it might have cap benefits. I was told it didn't but Greg was just a stand up guy and didn't want to burden the club when he wasn't going to contribute. But given the figures those in the know were throwing around about Williams, it's great work if you've managed to fit him in. That would make you favourites in my eye if you can integrate him well and not try to fit them all in at once and disrupt things. |

The club were quite clear saying he wasn't coming over on 'marquee money', but he wont have come over for nothing. The medical retirement angle must have been used, otherwise a season ending injury for a player isn't enough to remove them from the cap in normal circumstances.

Wouldn't be sensible to dig your heels in for the last four months of your contract when someone else is offering you a few years.
Let's hope he's seen sense and is off.
Likable fella but clearly hasn't got the fitness levels required for the top level. |

| My word i forgot we let Latu go earlier this year, i completely forgot about him.
As for Sita, yeah he didn't play long minutes but is a quality guy and has been decent in spells.
And all i'll remember about him years down the line is him smashing players out cold during games. He'll live rent free in my head as a highlights reel of massive hit ups 
All the best to him and i hioe he picks up another contract to sort himself and his family out |

Judging by the utter guff just spoken on The Super League show by Jon Odious Wilkin he is clearly still being paid by St Helens. So maybe they can explain how they can keep Jon in Ronseal as well as retaining the likes of Amor and remain under the cap?
