| Another masterstroke from the club/stadium putting away fans in the East stand. Turned it into virtually a home game for Widnes, while Salfords vocal fans have been stuck behind the posts all season with the vastly superior East stand being closed most weeks.

| From what I can gather, Salford's vocal fans don't want to be in the seats? They made a decision to choose the South stand so that's not the clubs fault. I think if the Salford fans don't want to go in the East stand it should be made available for all visiting supporters and it looked impressive with the amount of support Widnes brought.

| [iI thought it was a good idea not using the away end last night.
The Stadium looked much better with both sides in use.[/i

| The East stand did look good with all the Widnes fans in. Ideally though, there'd be standing along the side, a bit like at Warrington.

| I thought this was a disgrace actually. Fair play to Widnes fans though, they made a lot of noise.

| I thought the ground looked much better with the away fans in the east stand. But as ohers have said. There's only us to blame for all deciding to goin the south stand .

| Plenty of Salford fans have tried to move season tickets to the east stand only to be told they can't cos it won't be open every week. To then put away fans in there is another kick in the balls.

| my first choice is the east stand, and i was in there on friday night, and it just shows how the club thinks more about visting fans then us.
if i go again this season(and way should anyone go and spent good money on a team that does not play) if the east stand is open i will be in it. why not do the same the view is great.

Seems pretty logical to me. They opened it as they anticipated a large away following, which turned up. But if it isn't open every week how can they issue season tickets for it?
What exactly is wrong with the West stand? And why give the away fans a standing only terrace? Is our money not as good as yours? That does my head in. Places like Bradford where the home fans are sat underneath a covered stand and the away fans are huddled together in the pouring rain. No need for it.

Spot on. Should be half and half, with Widnes given the South Stand as well. Mind you, imagine the stewarding feck ups.

Not to mention the people who BOUGHT season tickets in there only to turn up one week and be told they had to go back round to the main stand.

It's called home advantage.

The Widnes following didn't appear to be any different than Warrington,Wigan,St Helen's etc in numbers.
There is nothing wrong with the west stand and it makes it more interesting when the fans mix at matches.
I think that you will agree that wherever you sit or stand at Salford City Stadium you get a better seat or standing position than you get at many other grounds and you are always in a covered section.
The problem for the Salford fans is that many were sold season tickets for the east stand only to be told at short notice that they had to move elsewhere.

Chill. Other visiting fans this year have been given a choice between standing in the North Stand or sitting in the West Stand.
The problem with giving away fans the East Stand is that it really does forfeit an element of home advantage. The first thing the visiting players see is their fans as they enter the pitch. Pro-rata, away fans are usually more vocal than home fans so giving away fans the side means that their vocal fans are next to the team (never more than 35 yards away on Friday) at all times for encouragement; whereas our supposedly vocal fans are relatively isolated from the action anything between 20 and 120 yards from the team.
With the precedent set by Warrington, anyone with any sense would have put standing down the side, but we seemingly had a clueless client and a spineless anchor tenant with our stadium build.
