| With 8 games to go... This isn't just 8 games left for the season for Salford... it's 8 games in the Red shirt for our own Malcolm Alker. He may stay on at the club in another capacity, but this guy has been our own Salford legend. We read about the greats of years gone by... some have seen them play.... but for those fans who have been coming to Salford after the glory days of the 70's... have we really had anybody else who can honestly fit in alongside the legends of the Salford club ? Who else since that time has been Salford to the core... played as many games as he has... turned down big money offers from Australia and our own countries top clubs... and played in a way that all of us would play if we had a chance to play for our own team. He's played like a fan would.
So... rather than leave this sort of topic until the last week of the season... I feel the guy deserves more time for us to reflect what a loyal, hard working servant Malcolm has been to this club.
I for one would like to thank him for the passion he has shown wearing the Red shirt. I don't want this topic to talk about any weaknesses in his game... they don't matter... all players have them... but not all players are a loyal as Malcolm Alker. For that alone... he is a legend to our club. He's no less loyal and hard working than Keiron Cunningham has been at Saints... and they are giving him a bronze statue. I'm not saying he's going to get one of those... but he certainly deserves to be shown how much we appreciate what he has done at Salford. It's about Malcolm Alker... the Salford player. Loyal and Committed... Thank You Malc.

| . Agree 100%. Malc is far and away the best player (all things taken into consideration, not just natural talent) I've seen in my 20 years of watching Salford. In terms of what he has given the club since he made his debut I'd put him alongside the likes of Ryan Giggs. A one club man who lives and breathes Salford and he will be sorely missed by many. All the best Malc in whatever your future holds, I'm sure you'll be a great success.

| Can't disagree with anything you've said their LF and hopefully people will show the same sentiment to Malc in his last few games for us. Regardless of what anybody says Malc has been one of the best and easily the most loyal player i've seen in my 17 years watching Salford. I still think he would have gained more international honours playing elsewhere and deservedly so but can't thank him enough for showing us passion, commitment & loyality through hard times.
A true Salford legend in modern times

| When Mal's Salford playing career comes to an end he will be one of only 26 players to make over 300 appearances in the clubs history. There will only be 13 players who will have played more games for Salford.
Tremendous loyalty!!

| Absolutley spot on LF, Malc has been the heart and soul of our club for the past 12 years and is a true salford legend and will go on to be a salford hall of famer. He has and always will be my number 1 reds hero for all the dedication and loyalty he has shown to the people of salford, He has put his body on the line time and time again, When he is on the pitch he represents every single salford speccy, And i can't imagine salford rlfc without him around, I dearly hope malc stays on next season and realises his dream of walking out at the city of salford stadium,. I hope the club can do a one off charity salford Vs _______ at the new stadium as a thank you to malc and a celebration of the willows. I knowsome people will accuse me of looking through red tinted specs but Malc deserves every single applause for his commitment. His last game in the red shirt will be the end of an era and i for one will be shedding a tear or few. =#FF0000MALC ALKER RED LE9END

| Hmmm the amount of replies to this thread says it all really, Where are the hundreds of testiments to a guy who has busted a gut for this club since he was 17 years old. Bloody typical of our current supporter situation. 9 replies..Nice to know how much people appreciate a modern day salford legend!

I think you will find that most genuine supporters of Solly think the same as what L.f said. imo

Fair enough but it doesn't take long to write down your own feelings about it. Im dreading his last home game because i dont think he will get anywhere near the send off he deserves.

What he deserves is a Cantona style send off , however neither the Club nor the fans have the resources or fanbase of our near neighbours & monikor stealers.
However I have learn't never to underestimate our fans and I'm sure come the day he will be given a just applause for his contribution whatever his decision.

BlOOdy hell MM that's a bit harsh, certainly won't be aiming any flying kung fu kicks at Malc myself

Nice one and this years Ian Gormley Memorial Trophy goes to.... Karl Fitzpatrick for his exploits at the Stoop
I was think more along the lines of ' King Cantona Style ' Tee-shirts or Flags not any martial arts !
I remember Blackburn Rovers issued Tugay masks ( Their long Serving Turkish International Midfielder ) for his last game , that was weird. It was against West Brom who were relegated and the baggies fans all turned wearing Tony Mowbray Masks..
So that could be done if only for the chant - " there's only 3,000 Alkers , 3,000 Alkers !

Well if you spent less time browsing internet forums you'd have more time to spend sorting the masks out .
May have to "put aside" some of my stationery budget at work in order to sort this out.

| A cheaper idea would be to provide drawing pins or gravel to put in peoples shoes so that we all can all run Alker-stylee.
In all seriousness tho Malc does deserve some kind of acknowledgment from the fans for his dedication to the club. Probably better to do it before he takes his coaching post cause he'll end up getting nowt but boos from some of our neanderthals at that point...
