| Not true - the staff on the perfume counters are employed by the likes of Clarins etc. It is easy to do and works perfectly well - I should know, I used to write the software!

| Well,Tarry seems to think its great for the City, and he thinks we can work together,or we can sit in a corner and cry that somebody else is playing in our playground, well that has really put my mind at rest.Pillock.

| Our best response in the short term is to go out and batter Hull KR on monday. Continue playing the fast, flowing and inventive rugby we've been playing for the rest of the season and show Sale fans what they should be watching.
How long do you think it will be before Sale want to change the name of the stadium? It's bound to stick in their throats having to say "City of Salford Stadium" all the time. We might not own the ground, but it's "ours". It's our name above the door.

Oh I don't know.
Each employ a member of staff.
Split dinner breaks preventing the outlet closing at lunchtime.
I think these new fangled computer things would allow you to differentiate between sales of Salford and Sale merchandise.
Maybe in our favour Sale would employ someone who would tidy the shop making it look presentable (which it cuttently doesn't).
Maybe it would discourage fans from hanging round in the shop who slag the club of when you go in to pick up your supporters pack and ask questions as happened the other week with me.
Maybe cross promotions, I know two of the people I attend games with will go to the odd Sale game and I'm sure there will be Sale fans of the same oppinion.
Ensuring that merchandise is intermingled in the shop would make people rummage, there is nothing to lose in this suggestion and potentially much to gain.

I hazard a guess the SMC will have a better chance of selling the naming rights for the stadium with two locally renown clubs playing there. [url=http://menmedia.co.uk/manchestereveningnews/sport/rugby_league/s/1468257_car-dealership-u-turn-over-barton-backingBMW Williams were close to agreeing a deal[/url last year but pulled out because:
Quote Additional signage costs for the stadium’s roofs on top of initial costs were then found to be too high, forcing Williams chiefs into a shock U-turn... Williams chiefs were particularly keen on the prospect of Salford’s rugby union neighbours Sale Sharks eventually coming on board and ground-sharing the Barton site.'"
So I imagine a new sponsor will take care of this anyway.

They will no doubt be paying the same for the use of the facilities as us so will want equal billing on the frontage.

Rubbish the outlets in many big department stores are meerly assigned which conscesion they work at rather than actually being employed by them. Both employe a member of staff and leave them too it. Christ if anything offer them an equal bonus for combined sales as they will pretty much be both on minimum wage.
Look for problems and you will find them, try doing the same with solutions for something that is happening rather than might be.

No what I do say is that we have no say in how the owners of the property we rent use said property.
If we want to endlessly find issue with it we can, or we can except we have co tennants and look for positives.
To answer your question more directly.
The club are now less likely to field questions from the owner about profit margins and just exactly how long the venture will take to turn a profit. Which for the owners/investors is and should be thier main priority.
Hell if nothing else Wilky can have snoot around and see how certain employees should perform in thier roles.

| Quote ="Red John"Agreed, but a functioning web site costs money. And we haven't got any.'"
For Salford, it wouldn't. There are employees of the club who are experienced in developing a full website solution that would complete the club's needs. I doubt many other rugby league clubs can claim to have this level of technical expertise in-house.
Hosting won't cost that much. [url=http://www.ukfast.co.uk/corporate-social-responsibility.htmlUK Fast have a link up with the website[/url, so perhaps they provide such technical services gratis or pay sponsorship of some kind to cover it.
Open Source software can be used to administer the website content, which is free even for commercial use; I know the club have used such software before.
Online shopping fulfillment apps are relatively cheap to use. For a period, if memory serves, Salford used a service called Shopify, whose pricing rates are [url=http://www.shopify.com/pricinglisted here[/url.
As to why there is no online shop or 'functioning web site' (there is a functioning web site) I don't know. I imagine the talk of getting the infrastructure right could mean integrating the stock system into both the physical and online shops, which would help a lot. I can also imagine the amount of visitors/transactions the online shop got in the past was very low, certainly in comparison to this forum and the club's Facebook page, which may have influenced the decision not to make it a priority. But it isn't a question of money or lack thereof.
Quote ="Red John"I'm still not convinced that Salford are a badly run club rather than a club run on a shoestring.'"
That seems to be the case. Anyone that speaks to, or has spoken to people that work for the club knows that resources are hardly plentiful. However, there's certainly room for improvement in some areas that don't particularly need much more money putting in.

Last time I spoke to the guys I think this was on the cards. I don't think it was a big company per se, it was more like a freelancer or an agency - something like that. I couldn't tell you what did, or rather didn't materalise from that.
So I guess it's doable.

| But we were right to put our trust into those people when the plans for the new stadium were first mooted. as it stood then the plans were to give the club a self sufficient future. i'm sure Wilky and the team knew that a new stadium couldn't be funded and run on the crowds we attracted then and were likely to attract going forward. His plan then was for it to be funded by the casino, the hotel, the big bulky goods out of town style shopping stores on the retail site, all subsidising the cost to you and i through the turnstile.
It's unfair to blame Wilky and the club for the public inquiry, the casino application being turned down, the retail site being questioned by Peel/Trafford Centre, Red City Developments going into administration or the economic downturn which has made finance harder to come by. These were all beyond his and any other persons control and meant the club has had to adapt it's plans accordingly. The simple fact is, if any other owner had been in this situation we'd up with the same or similar result. I don't like it just as much as you, i'd prefer Utd reserves or even FC Utd in there but we haven't got that. that's beyond mine and the clubs control. Constantly having a pop at Wilky and Tarry isn't going to get us anywhere, it might make people feel better but it doesn't change the fact that they did the best for the club with the information and facts available to them at the time. i don't feel let down. we have 'our' stadium. we have our super league licence. lets make the most of what we've got

Can see this being the only short term solution, the club as an independant entity can't afford (or need) a big plush online presence. What we do need is an online outlet that isn't always down for maintenance, has more than a ruler and rubber with your name on it and trys at least to give us what we want rather than tat that gathers dust.

I tend to agree, although who knows what the motives were of all involved but themselves.
Sadly, however, these events will be largely forgotten. Only a few people around now and club historians of the future will realise what could have been. The lasting legacy of this stadium and its development is forged now.

Yep. Even if the online shop lost money (which probably wouldn't be significant) I think having a decent range of goods available would re-establish trust with the fans; and that club merchandise is available to them regardless of their location.

Always thought why doesnt the club maybe market a range of golf clothing/balls at say Swinton/Worsley/Mariott as I know there is a big Salford following at all these clubs. Find a cheap local supplier to produce a Salford beach towel who would produce 500 as they i'm sure would sell, there is a market to find small local procures of merchandise who will look at marketing small numbers of goods in the first instance who would bite the clubs hand off in the hope that it brings further sales thier way.'" | Michigan Red - I'm not going to disect all the recent posts you've made on this thread as there is that much nonsense to correct I'd miss the Huddersfield game.
You've been long established as the worst poster on this forum but you've taken that to new levels recently. On less important threads I skip past your posts but such is the importance of this one I've upsettingly had to endure them.
PS If there are any updates on GT's hooliganism or on the dual signing of Gavin Henson - it must be worth it because he's Welsh and plays RU like David Young - makes sure you keep us all informed.
