True indeed. I went past this morning & after being hacked off for the last 2 days by the 'Boots n'all' fiasco it was refreshing to see the amont of activity on the site. When I told my boss what was going on there he remarked that there seemed to be a sense of urgency with the amount of plant on there. I neglected to tell him that it had taken us nearly 4 years to get from the NWDA clearence to get to this point.

I did mention this a few weeks ago but have now had it confirmed that a healthy bonus is payable if the work is finished before the scheduled date, think all that can stop that now is a typical monsoon summer, let's hope that we get the driest on record.

Does anyone know if the current work is finished ahead of time if the actually building work will start earlier than planned? for me the more work done on site by the time the application for the next franchise is deliveredthe better it looks for us.

No because there will already be a Development Schedule with confirmed dates for submitting tenders, choosing the main contractor, awarding the contract and starting the work. There is always a time period between being awarded the contract and starting the work. This allows the contractor to have the manpower, equipment and any initial materials needed in place.

We don't know if the remediation contractor is ahead of schedule or not? but if they are it may be because they have another contract to move on to after this one.

Been past today on my way to Irlam and the site looked very busy. While not as angry as some posters i am surprised we missed this opportunity to state the progress made. For years Salford has been constantly criticised by Fans from all clubs including our own fans, openly deriding our efforts to get a stadium built. So many false starts had us all believing nothing would ever happen. But now it has and whatever we may think of Boots and All, it is watched by fans from other clubs. This seemed an opportunity to show RL doubters that we have finally got under way. If other chances to bang our drum come along we must take them. I cant believe no-one at the club had the authority to speak to Sky while Mr Chairman is away but if that is the case then next time lets appoint a spokesman who can keep all media outlets up to date.

Went down to the club this afternoon & asked about the boots n all statement.
Contrary to some folk thinking I just look at the club through rose tinted specs,


I was told, by a very reliable source at the club that the Sky reporter, Angela Powers I believe, was got back to & told at that moment a statement was not available, but would be for next week. Eddie obviously did not get the correct message relayed to him from whoever at Sky.

If that is the situation then I feel Sky Sports should do the honorable thing and make a public apology to both the club and the Salford supporters on next weeks show! I think Eddie Hemmings is a decent guy and I'm sure when he is made aware of this he will go out of his way to clear the matter up.

How many times have we had the wool pulled over our eyes over the years... yet people would suddenly believe the club when they are passing the buck.

Please note my previously stated opinions on the c**p excuse of a stadium we're being lumbered with and how I believe this is partly the fault of the club.

My opinion of the said journo stands and I completely believe that she'll have done, or not done, what has been suggested by the club.

Perhaps some will believe that everything negative to do with the club is undoubtedly the clubs fault? Let's face it, we'll never really know the truth.

In this particular case, I do have sympathy with the club. The joint venture no doubt has to agree on press releases and other communications, so there'll be a clash of each partners' own departments and, therefore, egos. Messages have to go through more channels, some of which may get lost or distorted. If one of the partners doesn't want to release anything, then nothing gets released. Plus, I bet there's a few councillors sweating over any negativity because there's no shortage of opponents regarding the loan to build the new stadium.

Publicly, this is making the club look like amateurs to us and deceptive to opposition supporters. With hindsight, perhaps it would have been a better idea for the club to distance itself from the new stadium, publicly, as soon as RCD went under. Really, the JV should have its own PR outlet for enquiries such as this; I think they are being overly secretive. However, as I've just mentioned above, internal and external politics must be a huge issue.



That's not necessarily the case. Salford Star want to be supportive team matters and are aware of the good work the foundation does for example, particularly the work they did in Broughton. The issue is that the editor and, seemingly, its current pool of writers don't follow the Reds or rugby league. I wrote a couple of articles for them last year about how the team were performing. I'm sure if anybody wanted to volunteer to do match reports or team updates they would welcome them with open arms.

Salford Star will still be critical of the club in regards to the stadium because they're dubious of John Wilkinson and Salford City Council's business dealings. That stance probably won't change and the loan for the stadium no doubt compounded the issue. However, as I said, as far as the team and other club departments are concerned, I reckon they'd be receptive to new writers.

Let's just wait and see if Sky make an apology first before we try and disprove the explanation that Angela Powers failed to relay the message to Eddie Hemmings. If there is no apology on the show within the next couple of weeks, then and only then, will I believe that someone at the club has screwed up. It will be very interesting to see what happens because if the explanation is a lie then it will have made the situation a whole lot worse, probably resulting in someone having to say bye,bye.

Unfortunately from experience the Salford Star will take anything on face value, they did a massive putdown of the regneration in Seedley and langworthy a couple of years back and didn't bother to check the truth, just printed what the people told them, the people then laughed at it all as a big wind up and a pack of lies. Underlying to all this is because Salford City Reds have been able to get money from the council and the SS can not.

Do you know the full story of what happened? How do you know that what Sky said was the whole truth?The media and it's reporters always get it correct do they?

You for one seem to enjoy running the club down at every opportunity for whatever reason can't you see that some people take a different view than yourself and are not as quick at criticizing people as you are.

You are correct in assuming I don't know what happened... fact is... I don't... but neither does anybody else on here. Some will take as absolute gospel what the club say... some won't. I just say it as I see it... too many others don't. I certainly don't enjoy running the club down... but this is the club that have been building this stadium for over 10 years and fed us all kinds of stories during that time... and many (including myself) have believed every word... so excuse me in thinking that we are owed a little more. Everyone on here loves the club... myself included... but too many can't see the wood for the trees sometimes.

Well why keep on doing it with every post then?

Im sorry but I've got to agree with LF on this one. I really don't understand why our fans keep mocking those who have a diffrent opinion to them. The one thing we all have in common is that we love Salford and only want the best for the club but at times you do have to stand up and speak out. Were told that us as fans have to understand were not buillding the stadium BUT... the club has to realise that us as fans have been waiting for the stadium for over 10 years, the club have to realise that without the stadium, Salford's future is very bleak indeed. The club has to realise that we have been given assurances left right centre that the stadium will be built only for it to encounter another problem, the club has to realise that us as fans have had to endure years of underachieving yet still follow them all around the country.

Now im not for one minute saying any of the problems are directly the clubs fault but surely communication needs improving- we have a 21 page thread on the project- the only relevant information we have about the stadium has been dug up by fans in their spare time.

Yes were not building the stadium but without Salford RL there is no stadium in the 1st place, surely we have more power than were being led to believe. Leaving this latest mishap to one side, why are we not trying to win the PR war at this stage with updates, pictures etc? Is really that difficult for the media guy at Salford to ring the media gut at Peel and work out something together?

Im not trying to have a pop at anybody i just worry for the future of the club i love and missing opportunities such as the one Sky presented us, to show everyone in the RL world including us fans that we are in safe hands and do have a bright future is a massive kick to the nut sack for me personally. It all leaves me still wondering and pessimistic about our future- but thats just how i feel, others obviously have a different take on the whole event.

I am sure the club would be in the new stadium now but for things that were totally beyond their control. For instance the financial backer that had his assets frozen which meant the development company by law could not accept any futher investment from him. This isn't bull it's a fact and it cost the club years and the directors of this club a hell of a lot of their own personal money they had invested. At this point the directors could have just walked away from the club and put it down to a really bad experience but they didn't because they probably love this club even more than us as supporters. The fact is they dusted themselves down, worked hard to found a solution to the problem.

Without meaning to cause offence I think some people are just ignorant to just how much is involved and the obstacles the club has had to overcome to get this far with the stadium. I think some people when frustrated just have to point blame and moan rather than accept how difficult this has been for the club!

So before you go the trouble of telling me I'm gullible or a member the 'rose tinted brigade' I just thought I'd mention that I don't give a sh*te so don't waste your time!

There's far more clubs beneath us in that regard than above us. I'd actually dare to suggest that existing in the top tier with our measly crowds is something of an over-achievement.

Like I said earlier, if we'd provided three mins of appeasing screen fodder for Sky and churned out the same "council-led, community, franchise blah blah..." we'd be none-the wiser. It probably wouldn't have got more than a passing mention on here.
I just get a kick watching the over-reaction here when an opportunity arises to tell the club how awfully it's run (despite overwhelming odds against it even existing...)
