Look, I know you are all getting giddy cos youve signed mid table clubs castoffs but there is no way at all that Broughton is in the same class as gardner..yet. Everytime ive seen him his positional play is nothing short of shocking and is a total speed bump in defense. Seen him get out jumped many a time too. But sure, if you want to rate a winger on speed alone, knock yourselves out.

Gardner is one of the most guilty players in the league for being out of position. Broughton is all round as solid as Gardner but faster and more agile.

Ade Gardner = an improvement on Ste Tyrer.

He isn't exactly the real big name that we were hoping for, but he will strengthen the team, when compared with what we had last year.

Reality check time may well be required. Provided he hasn't been offered anymore than a 2 year contract, I would say it's not a bad signing. Just not what we've been building ourselves up for.

I agree there, but is he much of an improvement on Gibson on McGilvray? Probably not when you consider that they are younger and will have come cheaper.

Now that's a different question.

I've mentioned this issue before, is it wise of the club to bringing in so many Veteran players? and, is it going to impede the development of our younger players?

Personally I would like to see the new signings being used to supplement our young British players. I wouldn't be very happy if Gibson found himself frozen out next year. A very skillful player who can make space for his wingman. His defence is a little suspect, but, with the exception of possibly Talau, that accusation could be levelled at our entire backline.

Time will tell, but if you believe everything that's written on here, McRae would rather work with the finished article than developing new players.

Personally I think we have all been guilty of getting rather carried away based on two threads created by fellow supporters. I can't recall the club making a public official statement about us making a Big Signing? I keep reading about people being very disappointed but who exactly are we disappointed at? These people that put 2 + 2 together and got 22 and then started this rumour? or disappointed at ourselves for allowing ourselves to believe it? I think they call it wishful thinking!

This was sent to us yesterday by the club, so it seems it's the club who have now officially started the rumour not the forum .

I can't see how you can say the club started this rumour if they only sent that out yesterday. (This 'Big Signing' rumour has been on this forum for the last few weeks) Maybe some people at the club consider an International winger who players for one Superleague's top clubs a big signing? Whilst we only consider a Big Signing to be someone like Greg Inglis? At the end of the day the club are trying to sell season tickets and I can't blame them for hyping things up!
